유치원과 어린이집 원장의 직무 경험에 대한 내러티브 탐구

Narrative Exploration on the Work Experiences of Presidents of Kindergartens and Daycare Centers

본 연구에서는 취학 전 아동의 교육 및 보육기관 운영의 책임자인 유치원과 어린이집 원장이 임용전후 어떤 경험을 하였고, 원장으로서 직무를 효과적으로 수행하기 위해 어떤 노력을 하였는지를 탐색해보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 원장경력 15년, 18년의 유치원과 어린이집 원장을 목적 표집하여 원장의 임용전후 직무 경험에 대해 내러티브 탐구를 실시하였다. 현장텍스트는 4개월 동안 총 4회 심층면담으로 실시되었고, Clandinin & Connelly(2000)의 내러티브 분석의 절차와 방법을 활용하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 유치원과 어린이집 원장의 동기 및 배경은 동경하는 인물의 사회적 이미지, 앞장서기 좋아하는 리더십, 자신감으로 나타났다. 둘째, 원장 임용 전에는 꿈을 위한 생존으로 교사로서 사명감을 가지고 있었으나, 갈등을 경험하면서 직무수행에 있어서 수동적 태도로 임하였고, 주관적으로 학습한 경험이 있었다. 셋째, 원장 임용 후에는 지속적 성장으로 원장의 역할수행 대한 희노애락과 정체성을 경험하였고, 이를 능동적 태도로 극복하고자 하였으며, 지속적으로 학습한 경험이 있었다. 이를 통해 본 연구에서는 유치원과 어린이집 원장들의 효과적 직무수행을 위한 유보통합의 조속한 실현과 그들의 지속적 성장에 대한 지원을 시사하였다.

This study was intended to look into the experiences of presidents of kindergartens and daycare centers; responsible for the education of pre-school children and childcare organizations, before and after their appointment and to explore their efforts to perform their job duties more effectively as heads of kindergartens and daycare centers. For that, their job experiences before and after appointment were examined based on narrative exploration through purposeful sampling of the presidents of kindergartens and daycare centers who had 15-years’ experience and 18-years’ experience, respectively, as heads of kindergartens and daycare centers. The site texts were implemented through in-depth interviews that were performed 4 times during a period of 4 months, and the narrative analysis procedures and methods of Clandinin & Connelly (2000) were applied afterward. The results of this study were as follows: First, the primary motivations and background for the presidents of kindergartens and daycare centers were found to be the social image of the persons that they admired, the leadership of taking the initiative, and the self-confidence that came with the job. Second, prior to the appointment, they had the sense of mission as teachers of kindergartens and daycare centers of survival that realization of their dream. However, their attitude was changed to passive attitude in the performance of works and had the experience of subjective learning. Third, after their appointment, they experienced the 4 basic human feelings (joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure) in connection with their performance of the role of presidents of kindergartens and daycare centers. During their tenures, personal growth was achieved by overcoming challenges based on their prevailing positive attitudes, and they had the experience of learning with a desire for further growth. Through this, the study suggests fast realization of integrated early childhood education and care for effective job performance of presidents of kindergartens and daycare centers, and support for their constant growth.
