  • 338

This study identified the relevance between health behaviors and the intake of high-caffeine drinks of adolescents based on the data of the Tenth Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey 2014. The research findings are as follows. First, 11.9% of the total research subjects drank high-caffeine drinks; 74.2% drank carbonated drinks; and 82.5% drank sweet drinks, indicating that the subjects drank carbonated drinks and highly sweet drinks. Second, in terms of the differences in health behavior depending on the general characteristics, the male students drank more high-caffeine drinks, especially with low academic scores and good financial status. Third, as for the differences in the intake of high-caffeine drinks depending on the body weight perception, stress level perception, and the adequacy of sleeping hours, it was revealed that when the subjects were stressed out more and they thought their sleeping hours were inadequate, the intake of high-caffeine drinks was more. According to the research findings, it is required to provide the education to encourage the intake of healthy drinks and improve the ability to choose healthy foods.
