독일 상업영화 <불안은 영혼을 잠식한다>를 활용한 반편견교육 프로그램 개발

Development of Anti-Bias Education Programs Utilizing the German Commercial Movie Angst essen Seele auf

본 연구의 목적은 라이너 베르너 파스빈더 감독의 독일 상업영화 <불안은 영혼을 잠식한다>를 활용하여 반편견교육 프로그램을 개발하는 것이다. 이를 통해 영리를 목적으로 하는 상업영화가 다문화사회의 사회통합을 위한 교육프로그램을 개발하는 데 있어 하나의 유용하면서도 효과적인 교수-학습 도구가 될 수 있음을 보여주고자 한다. 특히 상업영화의 서사 텍스트를 활용하여 개발한 교육프로그램은 대표적인 시청각 대중 매체 중의 하나인 영화에 친숙한 오늘날의 학습자를 교육할 때 여러 가지 장점을 기대할 수 있다. 첫째, 학습자가 학습 목표에 더 많은 관심과 흥미를 갖는다. 둘째, 학습자가 학습 내용에 더 많은 집중력을 보인다. 셋째, 학습자가 학습 전반에 대한 심리적 부담감을 더 적게 느낀다. 넷째, 학습자가 학습 목표와 학습 내용을 더 잘 그리고 더 오랫동안 숙지한다. 다섯째, 교수자가 언어적 설명만으로 충분히 전달하기 힘든 정의적 학습 목표를 시각적 요소와 청각적 요소의 결합을 통해 학습자에게 더 잘 전달한다. 반편견교육의 목적은 학습자가 편견에 대해 비판적 사고를 함양함으로써 사회에 존재하는 편견에 대해 자기 주도적으로 대응하는 힘을 키우고 동시에 사회문화적 편견에 빠지지 않도록 교육하는 것이다. 본 연구는 대학생과 성인을 대상으로 한 반편견교육의 수업 시 교수ㆍ학습 지도안과 학습자에게 제공할 개인별 학습지 및 모둠별 학습지의 한 실례를 제시한다. 이를 통해 독일의 상업영화 <불안은 영혼을 잠식한다>가 반편견교육 프로그램에 어떻게 활용될 수 있는지를 살펴본다.

The purpose of this study is to develop an anti-bias education program utilizing the German commercial movie Angst essen Seele auf (meaning ‘Fear eat soul up’) directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Through this we would like to show that commercial films seeking profit as the number one objective are expected to be a very useful and effective teaching-learning tool of intercultural education program for the social integration in multicultural societies. Especially intercultural education programs using narrative texts of commercial movies can look forward to several advantages when we educate learners familiar with films as audiovisual mass media. First, learners are relatively more interested in learning objectives. Second, learners show a comparatively more concentration on learning contents. Third, learners feel relatively less psychological burdens of learning in general. Fourth, learners are comparatively well-acquainted with learning objectives and contents for a longer time. Fifth, teachers communicate more effectively affective learning objectives difficult enough to transmit only by linguistic explanation to learners through the combination of visual and auditory elements. Anti-bias education aims to teach learners to develop the ability to cope actively and positively with bias existing in the society, and at the same time not to fall into various social-cultural biases by cultivating critical thinking of learners about biases. This article gives a concrete instance for teaching-learning scenario and individual/group study paper provided for learners in anti-bias education class for undergraduate students and adults.
