통합기술수용이론(UTAUT)을 활용한 웨어러블 디바이스 사용의도에 관한 연구

A Study on the Usage Intention of Wearable Device Using Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT): Verification of the Moderating Effect of Consumer Innovativeness

본 연구는 차세대 스마트 기기로 각광받고 있는 웨어러블 디바이스 사용의도에 영향을 미치는 변인들을 고찰하고자 통합기술수용이론(UTAUT)의 주요 변수인 성과기대, 노력기대, 사회적 영향, 촉진조건이 웨어러블 디바이스 사용의도에 미치는 영향 및 소비자 혁신성의 조절 효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 웨어러블 디바이스의 주요 시장으로 판단되는 20~30대 소비자 158명을 대상으로 구조화된 설문지를 이용한 설문조사를 실시하여 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료를 다중회귀분석으로 검증한 결과, 통합기술수용이론의 성과기대, 사회적 영향, 촉진조건은 웨어러블 디바이스 사용의도에 유의미한 정의 영향을 미치나 노력기대는 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 소비자 혁신성은 노력기대와 웨어러블 디바이스 사용의도 간의 영향관계에서 조절 역할을 하여 소비자 혁신성이 높을수록 노력기대가 사용의도에 미치는 영향이 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다. 통합기술수용이론을 확장하여 실증연구를 통해 검증함으로써 소비자 관점의 신제품 수용행동에 관한 연구의 이론적 토대를 넓히고, 웨어러블 디바이스 시장 확대 전략 개발을 위한 실무적인 방안을 제시하였다.

This paper explores factors associated with the adoption of wearable devices that are attracting attention as next generation smart devices using unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). More specifically, this research tries to examine how performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions from original UTAUT affect the intention to use wearable devices and find out whether consumer innovativeness has a moderating effect. Data were collected from 158 respondents in their 20s and 30s rated as the most promising market for wearable devices. The results of multiple regression analysis shows that performance expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions from original UTAUT have a positive effect on the intention to use wearable devices. On the other hand, effort expectancy does not have a statistically significant effect on the intention to use wearable devices. And, consumer innovativeness plays a role of moderating variable between the relationship between effort expectancy and wearable device usage intention. Based on the results of the study, practical implications and potential future research areas are suggested.
