韓国語慶尚道諸方言音調変化

Tonal Changes in Gyeongsang Dialects of Korean

本稿の目的は、日本語や韓国語のようなピッチアクセント言語間の学際的な研究を促進することにある。したがって、ピッチアクセント言語にはどのような種類のピッチパターンがあり、どのようなアクセントの変化が起こり、現在の形態につながったのかを念頭において、韓国慶尚道方言を例に、音調型のプロセスの推移を記述したものである。慶尚道方言は、すでにアクセントの対立がある方言として分類されているが、本稿ではこれら諸方言のアクセントの比較から、現在の諸方言間にはどのような型の対応があり、どのようなアクセント変化のプロセスを経て現在の姿に至ったかについて具体的なデータを挙げて示した。その結果、諸方言の音調変化には、長母音の短母音化、文節型、低高低型と低高高型の統合が大きく関与していることがわかった。

The present study aims to promote interdisciplinary studies on pitch-accent languages such as Korean and Japanese. It addresses questions concerning the types of tonal patterns in these languages and the processes whereby these languages acquired their contemporary accent patterns, and concentrates on the tonal changes observed in Gyeongsang dialect of Korean. Various dialects of Gyeongsang Province have already been characterized as accent languages. In the present work, I reveal the relation between several dialects of the region concerning accent patterns based on my own fieldwork data, and shed light on the processes whereby these dialects acquired their contemporary accent patterns by providing concrete examples. I argue that the tonal changes in these dialects were affected by several factors: changes from long vowels to short vowels, segmental patterns, integration of the LHL and the LHH patterns, and the emergence of the distinction between finite forms and subjunctive forms.
