오리겐의 만유회복론

On the Universal Reconciliation of Origen

오리겐은 동방 알렉산드리아의 교부였다. 오리겐 신학사상에는 구속론적 관심과 우주론적 형이상학적 관심이 각기 독자적인 위상을 지니고 있었다. 그는 한편으로는 교회의 사상가로 사유하지만 다른 한편으로는 신플라톤적 세계관에서 사유하고 있다. 그런데 오리겐에 있어서 성경적 주석보다는 희랍적 사상체계가 주도했다. 그 구체적인 예가 오리겐의 영혼 선재론과 영혼 타락론이다. 그는 신플라톤주의에 입각한 만유회복 사상을 주장하였다. 구속론적 관심은 기독론적으로 정초되어 역사적 교회에 충실한 교리를 산출했다. 하지만 우주론적 형이상학적 관심은 성경적 세계관보다는 신플라톤적 세계관에 정위되었다. 그리하여 그의 사상 체계는 만유회복론으로 나아가면서 성경이 제시하는 종말론적 이원론을 놓치고 있다. 그의 사상에는 성경적 주석보다는 그리스적 사상체계가 주도했고, 문자적 해석보다는 우화적(寓話的) 해석이 주도했다. 그는 정신 타락론, 악한 천사들의 복귀론, 정신 낙관주의를 주장함으로써 바울의 칭의론에 입각한 인간론과 우주론을 형성하는 데 나아가지 못했다. 이단논쟁의 근거를 제시한 자료는 그의 신학총론(Summa Theologiae) 저서인 『원리론』(De Principiis)이다. 그가 만유회복론을 주장하기에 이른 것은 성경적 세계관보다는 신플라톤적 세계관에 의존하였기 때문이다. 이러한 만유 회복 사상은 후기 교회가 그의 신학을 이단적으로 정죄하기에 이른다.

Origen was an Alexandrian church father of the Eastern church. In the theological thought of Origen soteriological and cosmological metaphysical concern have their own positions. He thought the salvation as a church thinker on the one hand, but as neoplatonic worldview on the other hand. However, a Greek thought system prevailed in his Biblical commentaries. The concrete examples are his view of the pre-existence of soul and the fall of soul. He insisted on the thought of universal reconciliation based on the newplatonism. The soteriological concern, christologically founded, produced the doctrine which was loyal to the historical church, However, the cosmo-metaphysical concern was oriented rather to the neoplatonic worldview than to the biblical one. Thereby, his system of thought, going to the doctrine of universal reconciliation, lost the eschatological dualism, that the Bible has taught, His thought was initiated rather by the Greek thought than by the Biblical commentary, rather by the allegorical interpretation than by the literal one. He could not go on to build the anthropology and cosmology based on the doctrine of the Paulinic justification, by insisting on the doctrine of spirit-corruption, the return of evil angels and spirit optimism. The source of it was the “De Principiis” which was his Summa Theologiae. It was due to that he relied on the newplatonism rather than on the biblical worldview. His thought of universal reconciliation led to the result that the later church condemned his theology as pagan.
