The aim of this paper is to clarify the linearization process. The main points can be summarized as follows. Comparison of Kayne s (1994) linearization (Linear Correspondence Axiom) and Fukui & Takano s (1998) linearization (Demerge) shows the latter to be more viable for Korean. As head-to-head movements are not compatible with Demerge, Fukui & Takano (1998) propose head-to-specifier movements. There are, however, empirical phenomena that support head-to-head movements. To reconcile Demerge with the empirical phenomena, head-to-complement movements are proposed. Head-to-complement movements are supported by empirical phenomena such as multiple case phenomena in Korean.
