Purpose- The purpose of this study is to empirically examine the structural relationships among career plateau, organizational commitment, burnout, and turnover intention of airline flight attendants in Korea. Design/methodology/approach- Data were collected from 300 airline flight attendants with 233 sample responses used in the analysis. The data were analyzed statistically using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0 programs. Findings- Results revealed that career plateau has a negative effect on organizational commitment while organizational commitment has been shown to negatively affect burnout and turnover intention. Moreover, career plateau has a positive effect on burnout and turnover intention. Organizational commitment was found to partially mediate the effect of career plateau on burnout and turnover intention. Research implications or Originality- In a study of airline cabin crew members, this study provides evidence that career plateau influences organizational efficacy variables through the mediation of organizational commitment. This study contributes to the expansion of theoretical research on career plateau in this context.
