실용음악교육의 융합인재교육(STEAM) 활용 당위성에 대한 고찰

An analysis of the feasibility of applying STEAM in the education of applied music

본 연구는 융합인재교육(STEAM)에서 실용음악교육을 주요제재로 적극 활용할 것을 권하기에 앞서 그에 대한 명분 확보를 위한 당위성 고찰을 중심으로 한다. 가장 먼저 선행연구 분석을 통한 융합의 개념과 융합인재교육의 주요 흐름과 양상을 살펴보았다. 음악교육과 실용음악교육의 이해관계 분석을 통해 포괄적 관계성의 결과를 도출하고, 그를 바탕으로 예술, 음악 중심 융합인재교육의 주요 연구 동향에 실용음악 교육의 동참 필요성을 강조하였다. 당위성 논의를 위하여 융합인재교육의 본질, 목적, 의의, 방법론 등의 내용에 실용음악 주요 특징(실용성, 대중성, 포괄성, 시대성)을 대입하여 융합인재교육 활용에 대한 긍정적 요인을 유추하였다. 나아가 시작에서부터 테크놀로지를 적극 수용한 실용음악교육의 특이성과 케이팝(K-Pop)의 성공사례를 바탕으로 융합인재교육 확장에 대한 실효 가능성을 제언하였다. 본 연구가 향후 실용음악교육을 활용한 관련 연구의 양적·질적 향상에 작게나마 이바지할 수 있기를 기대한다.

This research focuses on analyzing the feasibility of applied music education in order to secure justification prior to recommending its active use as a main topic in integrated human resources education (STEAM). Above all, we looked into the concept of convergence through the analysis of previous studies and at the main trends and characteristics of STEAM. Results, via analyzing interests, show a comprehensive relationship between music education and applied music education. Based on our results, we have emphasized the necessity of implementing applied music education in the main research trends of arts- and music-oriented STEAM. This research infers that there are positive aspects (practicality, mass appeal, inclusiveness, time trends) of including applied music into traditional STEAM contents, such as its essence, objectives, significance, and methods, in order to discuss its feasibility. Furthermore, the authors propose the effectiveness of expanding STEAM based on successful cases of K-pop and the uniqueness of applied music education that actively embraced technology from the beginning. We hope that this research contributes to the quantitative and/or qualitative improvement of related research utilizing applied music education in the future.
