Historical Review of the Korean Writing Ability Assessment Study

한국어 능력 평가에 관한 연구는 1990년대 후반부터 활발히 이루어졌으며, 그 중 쓰기 능력 평가에 관한 연구는 2001년 처음 시작되었다. 그러나 쓰기 능력 평가 연구사에 대한 사적인 검토는 현재까지 이루어진 바가 없다. 따라서 본고는 지난 19년간 이루어진 한국어 쓰기 능력 평가 관련 연구 성과들을 통시적으로 고찰함으로써 한국어 쓰기 능력 평가 연구사의 흐름을 객관적으로 인식ㆍ평가하고, 앞으로의 연구 방향을 전망하는 데 도움을 주고자 하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 관련 연구들을 학위 논문과 학술지 논문으로 크게 나눈 뒤, 각 논문들을 시기별, 연구 주제별로 나누어 살폈다. 그 결과 학위 논문의 경우 학술지 논문에 비해 주제가 다양화되지 못한 경향을 보였으며, 학술지 논문의 경우 학위 논문보다는 세부적으로 다양한 연구 주제를 다루고 있었으나 여전히 특정 주제에 편중된 모습을 볼 수 있었다. 지금껏 많은 논의가 이루어진 한국어능력시험 관련 연구 및 학문 목적 쓰기 평가 도구의 개발, 쓰기 채점의 신뢰도 확보를 위한 채점자 신뢰도 관련 연구도 꾸준히 이루어져야겠지만, 상대적으로 많은 논의가 진행되지 못한 다문화 배경 학습자를 위한 쓰기 능력 평가 관련 연구도 활발히 이루어져야 함을 알 수 있었다.

The study of Korean language proficiency has been active since the late 1990s, and the study of writing ability assessment was first started in 2001. So far, however, no historical review has been made of the study. Therefore, this study is designed to objectively recognize and evaluate the trends of research in the assessment of Korean writing ability, and to help predict the future direction of research in consideration of the research conducted over the past 19 years. To this end, the research was first divided into papers and academic papers. And each paper was divided by time and topic. As a result, dissertation papers dealt with limited subjects, and academic papers also tended to be limited to specific subjects. While research on improving TOPIK, developing academic writing assessment tools and reliability of scorers should continue, research on the writing assessment of multicultural background learners, which has yet to be discussed, should also be carried out actively.
