Research Trends of STEAM Education Program

이 연구의 목적은 지금까지 국내에서 연구된 STEAM 교육 프로그램의 동향을 분석하여 앞으로의 연구에 대한 시사점을 도출하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위하여 2010년부터 2019년 7월까지 발표된 STEAM 교육 프로그램 관련 학위 논문 836편을 발행 연도, 중심 교과, 프로그램의 중심 접근법, 대상 학년, 프로그램 운영 형태, 연구 설계, 종속변인, 실험설계의 준거로 분석하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 발행 연도별 분석 결과, 2013년부터 2017년까지 매해 100편 이상의 학위 논문이 발행되었으며, 2018년부터 감소하는 추세이다. 중심 교과별 분석 결과 예술(A) 중심의 학위 논문이 가장 많이 연구되었다. 중심 접근법별 분석 결과 교과 중심으로 접근한 학위 논문이 가장 많았다. 대상 학년별 분석 결과 초등학생이 가장 많이 연구되었으며, 다음으로 중학생, 고등학생 순으로 연구되었다. 운영 형태별 분석 결과 정규교과 시간이 가장 많이 연구되었다. 연구 설계별 분석 결과, 프로그램 개발 및 실현연구가 가장 많이 연구되었다. STEAM 교육 프로그램의 종속변인을 다중 표기하여 분석한 결과, 가치관 및 태도에 관한 논문이 가장 많았으며, 다음으로 융합적 사고력, 교과인지능력, 문제해결능력 순으로 나타났다. 실험설계 방법별 분석 결과 단일집단 사전 사후 검사가 가장 많이 연구되었다. 이 연구 결과를 통해 추후 연구에서는 다양한 분야의 과목과 연계한 STEAM 교육 프로그램의 개발, STEAM 교육 프로그램의 효과성을 심층적으로 검증하기 위한 질적인 접근, STEAM 교육 프로그램 메타분석 연구의 필요성을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze trends in STEAM education program research. This study analyzed a total of 836 degree related papers related to STEAM education program published from 2010 to July 2019, by year of publication, central school subject, key approach to STEM educational program, target subject, program operation type, research design, dependant variable, and experimental design method. The results of the study are as follows. As a result of the analysis by year of publication, more than 100 thesis were published each year from 2013 to 2017, and it has been decreasing since 2018. As a result of the analysis of the core subjects, the Arts centered study was most studied. According to the analysis of the central approach, the thesis was the most focused on the subject. In grade analysis, elementary school students were the most studied, followed by middle school and high school students. As a result of the analysis by operation type, the regular school hours were the most studied. In the research design analysis, the program development and implementation research was the most studied. As a finding of identifying dependent variables of STEAM education programs, thesis on values and attitudes was the most frequently followed by convergent thinking ability, subject cognitive ability, and problem solving ability. In the analysis by experimental design method, single group pretest was the most studied. Based on findings of this study, future research suggested the development of STEAM education program linked with various subjects, a qualitative approach to further verify the effectiveness of STEAM education program, and the necessity of STEAM education program meta-analysis research.
