증거 기반 도덕교육의 이해와 실천 방향

Understanding and Future Directions for Evidence-Based Practices in Moral Education

도덕교육의 역사는 적어도 소크라테스와 공자로 거슬러 올라갈 만큼 오래된 것이다. 하지만 오랜 역사에도 불구하고 도덕교육적 실천 자체가 중시되어 왔을 뿐, 과학적 연구를 기반으로 축적된 증거들을 활용하려는 노력은 거의 없었다. 이러한 문제의식을 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 ‘증거 기반 교육 실천’이란 무엇이고 왜 중요하며, 인과성 개념을 둘러싼 논쟁에도 불구하고 증거 기반교육을 지지할 수 있는 실질적인 근거가 무엇인지 살펴볼 것이다. 또한 미국의 사회정서학습과 인성교육을 중심으로 증거 기반 도덕교육의 실태를 조사하여 소개한 후, 이러한 실천 사례가 우리의 도덕교육 현실을 개선하는데 어떤 시사점을 제공할 수 있는지, 그리고 향후 우리나라 도덕과에서 증거 기반 도덕교육을 어떻게 실천해 나가야 하는지에 대해 구체적으로 논의할 것이다.

Moral education has been a long history, as we can see through Socrates and Confucius. However, in spite of a long history of moral education, far too little effort has been made to use the best available evidences that have been accumulated in the practical field of moral education. Based on the critical mind, this research will present the definition and importance of the evidence-based practice (EBP) in education, and then, discuss philosophical issues surrounding the EBP. In addition, focusing on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and character education in the United States, this research will introduce the actual conditions of evidence-based moral education and suggest implications for Korean moral education.
