1920년대 신문기사에 나타난 당대의 역사교육 인식

Recognition of history education in the 1920s newspaper articles

본고에서는 1920년대 동아일보·조선일보 기사 및 사설의 제도적·내용적 분석을 통해 표면적인 상황 이면에 자리하였던 기사 작성의 배경과 의도를 추론하고 이를 통해 당시 지식인들의 역사교육 인식을 추론해보고자 하였다. 두 신문에 따르면 조선 역사교육에 대한 사회 일반의 요구는 강력하였다. 신문은 이를 보도하는 한편 일제의 기만적인 정책을 비판하면서 다양한 수단을 통해 우리 역사에 대한 관심을 촉구하였다. 신문 매체의 특성상 보도 내용은 절대적이고 객관적으로 여겨지나 이면에는 기사의 작성 배경 및 의도가 있을 수밖에 없다. 여기에서는 내용 분석을 통해 일제 강점기라는 특수한 시대에서 활동하였던 기자와 주필의 역사 인식과 사상의 영향이 있었음을 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 보도 내용의 단순한 재구성을 넘어 당대 역사교육 인식에 이르기까지 살펴보고자 하였다. 이 같은 연구 방법은 최근 역사교육에서 텍스트를 비판적으로 해석하려는 노력의 일환이라 할 수 있다.

In this paper, the analysis of the system and contents of the Dong-A Ilbo and the Chosun Ilbo articles and editorials in the 1920s have been attempted. Through this, deductions have been made about the background and intention of writing articles behind the ostensible situation and infer the perception of history education by the intellectuals who were writers or readers of these articles. According to these two newspapers, the needs of the society fort Chosun history education was strong. While reporting on this need, the newspaper urged the attention to our history by various means such as by criticizing Japan s deceptive policies. Due to the nature of the newspaper as media, the coverage was considered absolute and objective, but behind the scenes, there must be have been a background and intention of writing the article. Here, the impact of the historical perception and ideology of specific reporters and editors in chief who were active in the Japanese occupation was examined through the analysis of the content. Through this process, the government desired to examine not only at the structure of the report but also at the recognition of history education at the time. Such research methods can be said to be part of recent efforts to interpret text critically in history education.
