<The painting of Ksitigarbhap and ten of king> possessed at the museum of Dongkuk university is a buddhist picture installed in the buddhist monk pagoda s building which was made by Ikchan, the buddhist monk painter, and his pupil Junun in Bongsuam, Taeansa, Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, 1860. Temple Taeansa located in Mt. Bongdu, Gokseong-gun was established by Jeoginseonsa. Bongsuam, where Buddhist Painting was created, is uncertain when it was established precisely, but it is able to confirm that its existence in the latter part of Chosun by the records of Book of Taeansa Temple and remained artifacts. However the record about The Buddhist monk pagoda s Building, which the buddhist painting was in the custody, has been remained and its building was not left, so it is assumed that the buddhist monk pagodas were gathered currently. On the other hand, Ikchan who produced buddhist painting, is a representative buddhist monk painter in 19th century of Jeolla-do. Not only inherited traditional styles and also had his own unique style. Following in this meaning of Ikchan, Junun produced buddhist painting work that he inherited the buddhist painting style of Ikchan faithfully <The painting of Ksitigarbhap and ten of king> possessed by the museum of Dongkuk university is a buddhist painting produced by Ikchan s buddhist painting style in the ripe time which was inherited thoroughly traditional style compared to other buddhist paintings that produced unique style. Painting of Ksitigarbha and ten of king is a common structured painting which is Domyeong-Jonja and Mudok-Guiwang are standing around Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva and surrounded by Ten of king, Judge, Jailer and two priestlings in the back. Painting of ksitigarbha Bodhisattva mainly produced by Ikchan, is a buddhist painting which is being with Six Light Bodhisattvas. However, this work presented Ten king of Hell only without Six Light Bodhisattvas. Through this work, Ikchan can appeal his ability to produce various painting works according to the situation.
