자유학기 만족도가 청소년 진로성숙도에 미치는 영향

The Effect of Free-Semester Satisfaction on Career Maturity of Adolescents

본 연구는 진로성숙에 대한 자유학기 만족도의 영향을 검증하고자 경기교육종단연구 7차년도(2018년도, 고등학교 1학년) 자료를 활용하였다. 자유학기 만족도의 진로성숙에 대한 영향력은 학생들의 자아개념, 학습동기, 부모자녀관계, 학교적응 변인을 통제변인으로 투입한 후 분석되었다. 경기교육종단연구 7차년도에 참여한 고등학교 1학년 학생은 총 6,813명이었으나 중학교 자유학기제에 참여했다고 응답한 학생은 4,815명으로 나타나 이 학생의 자료만 본 연구를 위한 분석에 포함하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자유학기에 ‘만족’하는 학생들은 자유학기에 중도(잘 모르겠다)라고 응답한 학생들과 자유학기를 ‘불만족’하는 학생들보다 더 많은 것으로 나타나 중학교 1학년에 실시하는 자유학기에 대해 많은 학생들이 대체적으로 만족하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 진로성숙도에 대한 학생의 자아개념, 학습동기, 부모자녀관계, 학교적응, 자유학기 만족도의 영향을 살펴본 결과 모든 변수들이 통계적으로 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 자유학기에 대해 중도(잘 모르겠다) 입장을 취하는 학생들이 자유학기에 대해 ‘만족’하는 학생들보다 더 낮은 수준의 진로성숙도를 보이고 있고, 자유학기에 대해 ‘불만족’하는 학생들은 자유학기에 대해 ‘만족’하는 학생들보다 진로성숙도가 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구결과는 자유학기제가 추구하는 방향성과 학생들이 실질적으로 경험하고 느끼는 간격을 줄이는데 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of free-semester system on career maturity after controlling for self-concept, academic motivation, parent-child relation, school adjustment, via an Institute of Education’s Gyeonggi Education Longitudinal study 7 years(first grade of high school students, 2018). The current study used responses from the 4,815 out of 6,813 students who had experience of the free-semester system. Results obtained from the analyses were as follows. First, there were more students who were satisfied with the free-semester system than were neutral or dissatisfied. Second, the study found statistically significant effects of self-concept,academic motivation, parent-child relation, school adjustment, and free-semester system on career maturity. In parallel with these results, students who were satisfied with the free-semester system had higher degrees of career maturity than those who were neutral. However, students who were dissatisfied with the free-semester system had higher degrees of career maturity than those who were satisfied with the free-semester system. The results could help reduce the gap that already exists between students’ attitudes, thoughts, and experience and the ultimate purpose of the free-semester system.
