The Study on Goryeo Celadon of Buan in Jellabukdo

전북 부안지역은 전남 강진과 더불어 고려중기 청자생산의 메카였다. 현재까지 부안지역에서 조사가 이루어진 청자요지는 진서리18호·진서리 20호·유천리 7구역 요지군 등 모두 3개소 7 기가 있으며, 이 밖에 군산 비안도 앞바다에서 인양된 扶安産유물까지 포함하면 부안지역은 한 국 도자사를 연구하는데 있어 매우 중요한 곳이라 할 수 있다. 본고는 고려청자를 연구하는데 있어 중요한 입지를 점하고 있는 부안지역 고려청자요장의 성격을 규명하는데 목적이 있다. 부안의 고려청자요장의 성격을 연구하는데 있어 우선 문헌자료를 통해 조성배경과 쇠퇴원인을 살펴보았는데, 고려 중기에 부안지역은 조운창·수군 진영·국가의 材府로서 매우 복합적인 성격을 지닌 곳임을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 시굴·발굴조사가 이루어진 부안 진서리와 유천리의 요지 들과 이곳에서 출토된 유물을 개략적으로 살펴보고, 요지군의 분포현황을 정리함으로써 부안 진 서리·유천리에 존재하는 대다수의 요장들이 거의 동시기에 운영된 곳임을 파악할 수 있었다. 끝으로 고려시대 수공업체계 하에서 요업은 어떠한 방식으로 운영되었는지를 살펴보고, 이를 통 해 부안지역의 요장은 어느 한 계층만을 위해 제한적으로 청자를 제작했던 곳이 아니라 왕실 및 특수계층·관·민 등 당시 청자를 필요로 하는 광범위한 수요계층의 요구에 의하여 다양한 품질 과 형태·문양의 청자를 생산해 냈던 전문요업단지로서 고려 중기의 중심 窯場의 성격을 지녔던 것으로 사료된다.

Buan in Jellabukdo with Ganggin in Jellanamdo was the most productional Mecca of Celadon during the middle of Goryeo. The kiln sites of Celadon which have been researched by now are the kiln sites in groups of the number 18 of Jinseori, the number 20 of Jinseori, the area 7 of Yucheonri, and so on, three places and seven groups in total. In addition, by including the relics from Buan, salvaged off the coast of Biando island in Gunsan, Buan is very important place in studying on the History of Korean Ceramics. The purpose of this study is that the characteristics of the Goryeo Celadon pottery in Buan have been looked into minutely. In studying the characteristics of the Goryeo Celadon pottery in Buan, to begin with, its production background and causes of the decline through literature cited have been examined, and it has been checked up on the fact that Buan had been the economic, military, social important location in Goryeo. And by examining roughly the kiln sites of Jinseori and Yucheonri in Buan and relics excavated there and arranging the present condition of distribution on the kiln sites in groups, it has been checked that most potteries had been run in the same age almost (the late in the 12th to 13th century). And it has been examined how the ceramic industry under the manual trade system of Goryeo had been run, and through this, it is considered that the pottery of Buan was not the places that Celadon had been produced professionally for a certain class of Goryeo, but it was the core pottery of Goryeo as Ceramic-specialized region produced Celadons with various qualities, shapes and patterns for a vast range of demand classes - a Royal family and a privileged class, the authorities, a people, and so on - needing Celadon.
