평생교육에 대한 사회적 요구에 따라 국내의 많은 대학에서는 성인학습자들을 대상으로 학위과정을 운영하는 단과대학을 설립·운영하고 있다. 이러한 단과대학에서는 성인학습자들의 특성을 고려하지 못한 채 학령기 학생들을 대상으로 설계된 교양교육과정 또는 그 일부를 선택하여 운영하고 있다. 이 연구의 목적은 성인학습자들의 특징 및 요구를 반영한 교양교육과정 편성체계를 개발하고 그 운영방안을 모색하는 것이다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해, 선행문헌 고찰을 통해 성인학습자 대상의 교양교육과정 운영상의 문제를 분석하였고 성인학습자를 포함하여 잠재적 성인학습자, 교수자, 행정직원 대상의 설문조사 및 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 설문조사에는 84명의 연구대상자가 참여하였다. 설문도구는 교양교육의 목적, 교양교육과정 편성체계, 운영방법 및 개선의견을 묻는 질문으로 구성하였다. 설문조사의 결과에 기반하여 보다 심도있는 정보를 얻기 위해 4명의 학습자와 3명의 교수자를 대상으로 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 연구결과, H대학 성인학습자들의 교양교육과정은 인성소통, 창의도전, 리더십의 세 가지 핵심역량을 향상시킬 수 있도록 편성하였다. 이 연구에서 제안한 교양교육과정을 보다 효과적으로 운영하기 위해, 교과목의 유형에 따라 이론중심, 실습중심, 문제해결중심 플립러닝 수업모델을 포함한 다양한 운영방안을 제안하였다. 이 연구의 결과에 기반하여 성인학습자 대상의 교양교육과정을 편성·운영에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다.
Many universities nationwide have established and operated colleges that provide education for adult learners in response to the demand for lifelong education. These colleges generally provide adult learners with liberal arts education for school-age learners. This study amis to design a general education curriculum and operational plans considering the characteristics of adult learners. In order to accomplish the purpose of the study, problems of the operation of the general education through the literature review were identified, and surveys and interviews were conducted with adult learners, potential learners, instructors, and staffs. The survey included 84 participants, and a questionnaire survey was conducted on the objectives of general education, the curriculum framework, operation plans, and improvement opinions. The results of this study are expected to provide implications for the organization and operation of general education curriculum for adult learners.
