의사소통역량 향상을 위한 <독서와 표현> 수업의 효과성 연구

The Improvement in Communication competency on <Reading and Expression> class - Focus on <Reading and Expression> class of Sunchon National University

본고는 비수도권 대학의 학생들에게 부족한 의사소통역량에 주목하고, 순천대학교 <독서와 표현> 수업을 대상으로 소통역량 증진 방안과 그 효과성을 검증하고자 하였다. <독서와 표현>은 독서를 통해 자신의 생각을 정확하게 표현하는 학생 활동 중심의 교과이다. 비판적 사고와 의사소통역량을 강화하는데 그 목적이다. 따라서 교과의 성과는 학생들의 역량을 증진하고 개선하는데 기여할 수 있다. 현재 학생 역량 증진과 관련된 성과는 주로 수도권 대학을 중심으로 이루어져 있고, 이를 비수도권 대학에 적용하기에는 다소 무리가 있다. 수도권 대학의 학생들과 비수도권 대학의 학생들 간의 역량 차이가 크기 때문이다. 비수도권 대학의 학생들 다수는 자신감이나 자존감이 결여되어 있어 자신의 생각을 표현하는데 소극적인 경향을 보인다. 이는 성적 중심의 학교교육에서 배제되어 주변부로 생활하였던 경험에 기인한 바 크다. 때문에 교과 운영에 주의가 요구된다. 순천대학교 <독서와 표현> 수업에서 활용하고 있는 협력독서 방법은 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 제시한 교수학습 방법이다. 모둠원들과 지문을 윤독으로 낭독한 후 저자의 생각을 함께 찾아가는 협력학습이 중심이 된 독서방법을 운영해 본 결과, 학생들의 소통능력이 수업 전과 달리 향상된 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 위의 성과만으로 <독서와 표현> 수업이 학생들의 소통역량을 강화한다고 단정하기는 어렵다. 정확한 진단을 위해서는 좀 더 다양한 평가 방법이 적용될 필요가 있다. 이를 보완하여 평가에 대한 신뢰도를 높이는 방안이 마련되어야 할 것이다. <독서와 표현> 수업이 비수도권대학 학생들의 의사소통 능력을 함양하는데 도움이 되기를 기대해본다.

With the acceleration of the fourth industrial revolution, each university emphasizes literacy, global understanding, communication skills, logical thinking and critical thinking skills, which are nurtured through reading. This is why the necessity of reading is emphasized more than ever before. Each university selects subjects such as <Reading and Expression>, <Thinking and Expression> as its core education and educates freshmen to meet these social needs. Sunchon University is no exception. Sunchon University has established Liberal art Convergence University in April 2018, which was the first among the other national universities and Sunchon University has overall reorganization of liberal arts education ahead in order to accord with the changes of educational environment and needs of its learners. In the case of <Reading and Expression>, it is the only key liberal arts that represents Sunchon University. In this respect, it can serve as a model for liberal arts education. Therefore, it is important to examine the correlation between <Reading and Expression> and core competence and its effect. In response, I intend to analyze the impact of Sunchon University s <Reading and Expression> class on improving core competence and examine its effectiveness. By extension, I will suggest the way to improve core competence in <Reading and Expression> class.
