대학 교양교육에서 <주장의 6하 원칙> 활용 방법 연구

A study on the utilization of <Six principles of the claim> in university’s liberal education - Focused on Plato’s 『Crito』

오늘날 일반적으로 고질화된 일방적인 교수방법과 학생들의 타율적이고 수동적인 수업 자세로 말미암아 학생들 스스로 사고해볼 기회를 갖지 못하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 학생들이 어떤 상황과 사건이 주는 메시지에 대해 숙고하는 습관이 형성되어 있지 않다는 것을 문제 삼고 학생들의 사고력 기르기에 초점을 두고 있다. 본 연구는 IRB 심의를 받았으며, 경남대학교 <독서와 토론>을 수강하는1학년 29명을 대상으로 수행되었다. 또한 경남대학교 <독서와 토론> 교재에 실려 있는 <플라톤의 『크리톤』 (46d~49d)> 부분을 연구대상으로 하였다. 이 과정에 맥락적으로 구성된 <주장의 6하 원칙>을 이용하여 ‘소크라테스가 죽음을 선택한 것은 옳다’에 대한 자신의 생각을 만들어 보았다. 이러한 <주장의 6하 원칙>을 통한 사고력 훈련은 토론으로 쉽게 연계됨을 보여주었다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 주어진 내용을 정확하게 읽고 그에 대한 ‘나의 생각’은 무엇인지를 질문하는 과정 후에 일어나는 반박 과정이 종합적인 의사소통능력을 기르기에 유익할 것이라 바라보았다. 또한 이를 통해 학생들은 자신을 성찰하는 데까지 나아가고 있음을 확인하였다.뿐만 아니라 이러한 사고력 기르기를 통해 학생들이 교양교육을 받은 건전한 시민으로 육성되는 것임을 밝혔다.

Nowadays, there is no chance for students to think for themselves because of the chronically unilateral teaching method and the heteronomous and passive attitude of the student in the class. This study focused on the development of students thinking ability with pointing out a problem that students do not have a habit of considering the messages given by any situations and events. This study was approved by Institutional Review Board (IRB), and then conducted by 29 students in first grade taking <Reading and Discussion> course in Kyungnam University. <Plato s 『Crito』 (46d ~ 49d)> included in Kyungnam University <Reading and Discussion> textbook was studied for this study. In this process, students created their own idea about ‘Socrates choice of death is right’ using contextually constructed <Six principles of the claim>. It was shown that this kind of thinking ability training using <Six principles of the claim> is easily linked to the discussion. In conclusion, this study showed that the refutation process, after reading the given contents correctly and asking what my thoughts is about it, would be beneficial for developing the comprehensive communication skill. In addition, this study confirmed that students are moving toward to reflect on themselves and that students are fostered as healthy citizens receiving liberal education through the development of thinking ability in this way.
