내러티브 탐구 관점에서 본 『에밀』의 재해석

Re-interpretation of Emile based on Narrative Inquiry Method

이 연구는 브루너의 내러티브 사고에 기반하여 발전된 내러티브 탐구 방법으로 루소의 저서, 『에밀』의 재해석을 시도하였다. 내러티브 탐구는 코넬리와 클랜디닌에 의하여 제안되었으며 내러티브 탐구의 3차원 공간과 4가지 지향점으로 설명된다. 내러티브 탐구의 3차원 공간 분석을 통하여 『에밀』은 그의 탄생으로부터 결혼에 이르기까지 시계열적 흐름 속에서 개인과 사회의 상호작용을 개인의 가정으로부터 사회 속으로 확장시켜나가는 구조를 갖고 있음을 확인했다. 이는 에밀이 루소의 개인적 차원의 사상적 고백록이라기 보다는 철저한 내러티브 기반 전략적 의도를 가지고 기획된 것임을 뜻하는 것이라 설명된다. 내러티브 탐구의 4가지 지향점은 내적지향, 외적지향, 과거지향, 미래지향으로 구분된다. 『에밀』의 내용분석을 통하여 4가지의 내/외적지향점이 대립되어 본문에 제시됨을 밝혔고, 이 대립요소들은 결국 변증법적 통합을 통하여 개인 성장의 요소로서 기능함을 설명하였다. 마지막으로 결론에서 내러티브 사고의 가치를 언급하며 대학에서 성찰일지작성의 활성화를 통한 개인 삶의 의미 만들기와 이해, 삶으로의 확대를 제안하였다.

This study aims to explore the implications of the “Emile written by Rousseau based on the narrative inquiry frame. The narrative inquiry method was developed by Connelly and Clandinin, and it contains three-dimensional analysis as well as four directivity as key points. Through the three-dimensional analysis, the research found that Emile has a structure which expands the relationship between individual and social level with the interaction between home and a society. Also, those of events happen in a sequential flow from a birth to marriage. It reveals a fact that Emile was designed closely with a narrative frame rather than Rousseau s inner writing. The four directivity says internal, external, past and future one. By content analysis of Emile, four-pair of antagonistic factors were introduced. But the factors played role as catalyst of personal growth with dialectical integration of each pair of them. In conclusion, the research suggests to utilize writing reflection papers for college students as a tool for creating, understanding, and extending meaning of his/her personal life, which facilitates narrative way of thinking.
