종교개혁은 신학의 개혁이었다. 그리고 자연스럽게 신학의 개혁은 예배의 개혁으로 이어졌다. 개혁자들은 자신들이 주장한 신학을 신앙을 구체화하는 가장 중요한 장소인 예배에서 펼쳐 보여야 했다. 그러므로 예배의 개혁을 살펴보는 것은 매우 의미 있는 일이다. 본 글에서 필자는 종교개혁에서 예배개혁이 어떻게 이뤄졌는지 살피고 그 개혁의 기준과 의미를 오늘 우리에게 적용하고자 했다. 개혁자들은 예배에서 말씀과 성찬의 균형을 회복하고 성찬에서의 잘못된 신학은 배격했다. 회중이 알아들을 수 있는 예배를 위해 자국어로 성경을 번역하고 설교했으며 예배를 인도했다. 만인제사장의 원리는 예배 현장에서 구현되었다. 개혁자들 간의 완전한 일치를 보지는 못했지만, 위험성이 있는 미신적이고 인간적 요소들은 제거되거나 제한되었다. 이러한 종교개혁자들의 개혁 정신이 오늘날 우리 예배 속에 제대로 적용되고 있는지는 여전히 의문이다. 개혁자들이 고민하고 싸워왔던 잘못된 신학과 그 실행이 우리들의 예배 가운데 반복되지 않도록 개혁은 계속되어야 한다. 회중이 적극적으로 참여하도록 다양한 개혁을 했던 개혁자들의 정신을 이어받아 오늘날 예배도 회중들의 적극적이고 능동적 예배 참여를 독려해야 한다. 성찬의 회복과 균형을 추구했던 개혁자들의 정신은 우리 예배에도 적용되어야 한다. 성찬을 더 자주 해야 하고 올바른 성찬의 이해를 추구해야 한다. 개혁자들이 예배에서 설교를 회복했던 정신은 회중의 삶을 이해하며 회중들이 쉽게 알아들을 수 있는 설교로 적용되어야 한다. 덧붙여 인본주의와 기복주의가 만연한 이 시대에 하나님의 말씀을 제대로 전하는 설교가 회복되어야 한다. 현대 예배에서 중요한 비중으로 자리 잡은 음악적 요소들을 사용하는데도 개혁자들의 신학적 고민을 신중히 검토하고 적용하는 것이 필요하다. 교회는 날마다 개혁되어야 한다는 개혁교회의 정신이 오늘 우리 교회들에서 신실하게 구현되고 있는지 고민해야 한다. 그리고 개혁자들이 고민하고 싸워왔던 잘못된 신학과 그 실행이 우리들의 예배 가운데 반복되지 않도록 개혁은 계속되어야 한다.
The Reformation was a reformation of theology, and naturally, the reformation of theology led to the reformation of worship. The reformers had to unfold their theology that they had reformed in worship service. Therefore, it is very meaningful to study the reformation of worship. In this article, how worship reformation was carried out during the Reformation was examined, and an attempt was made to apply the standard and meaning of the Reformation today. Reformers restored the balance of the Word and the Eucharist in worship and rejected the incorrect theology of the Eucharist. They translated the Bible into their native language and preached in the language of the congregation. The doctrine of the “Priesthood for All Believers” was embodied in worship. Although there was no unified opinion between the reformers, superstitious and humanistic factors were removed or restricted. It is still questionable whether the core values of the reformers are applied correctly in our worship today. Reformation must continue so that false theology and its practices that the reformers struggled with are not repeated in our worship. Today, congregations should be encouraged to have active attitudes toward worship, and this follows the spirit of the reformers who made various reforms for the active participation of the congregation. The spirit of the reformers, who pursued the restoration and balance of the sacrament, should also be applied to our worship. The sacrament should be made more often, and the understanding of the proper sacrament should be pursued. The efforts of the reformers to recover preaching in worship must be implemented as preaching that the audience can easily understand and preachers must understand the lives of the audience. In addition, in this era when humanism and shamanic beliefs are prevalent, preaching that reveals the Word of God must be restored. It is necessary for the theological concerns of the reformers on using music in worship service to be considered and applied profoundly to modern worship. We must consider whether the spirit of the Reformation, which is that the church must always be reformed, is being faithfully implemented in our churches today and reformation must continue so that false theology and its practices that the reformers struggled with are not repeated in our worship.
