箴銘類 산문의 전통과 『古鏡重磨方 』

Study on Tradition of Jammyung-ryu(箴銘類) prose and 『Gogyeng jungma bang(古鏡重磨方) 』

본고는 한문 산문의 하나로 분류되는 잠명류에 대한 연구다. 잠명류에 대한 일반적인 설명은 흔히 접할 수 있지만, 한국 한문학사에 축적된 작품의 양상을 살펴서 그 실상을 파악하기는 아직 해명되지 못한 과제로 남아 있다. 필자는 한국고전번역원이 간행한 한국문집총간을 중심으로, 한국 한문학사에 축적된 箴銘類 작품의 구체적인 양상을 살펴보고자 하였다. 한국문집총간을 검색해보면 편차에 箴이나 銘 또는 箴銘이 없는 문집은 드물다. 문인 학자 대부분이 작품을 남겼다고 할 수 있다. 잠명류의 속성상 그 소재가 중요하므로, 필자는 작품의 소재로 무엇이 많이 채택되었는지를 우선 조사하고, 시대별 추이를 도출하고자 하였다. 한국 한문학에서 잠명류의 발전과 관련하여, 최초의 잠명류 작품 選集인 퇴계 이황의 古鏡重磨方 은 주목할 만하다. 중국 작품을 수록하고 있지만, 이후 잠명류 창작을 추동한 저작이다. 퇴계 이후 18세기 초반에 芝村李喜朝, 18세기 후반에 敬菴 趙衍龜, 19세기 후반에 朴在馨은 각각 속편을 편찬하였다. 퇴계의 고경중마방 은 영조와 정조조에는 경연에서도 요긴한 교재로 쓰였다. 본고의 관심은 두 가지다. 하나는 잠명이 고려부터 조선 말기까지 긴 시간에 걸쳐 소재와 주제, 작품의 구절이나 운자의 운용에서 어떤 특징과 변화를 보이느냐, 다른 하나는 잠명류 작품의 전개에서 고경중마방 이 어떤 역할을 했느냐이다.

This is a study on the genre called Jammyung-ryu which is classified as one of the Korean Classic Literature in Prose. The author examined specific aspect of Jammyung-ryu accumulated in ‘the History of Korean literature’, focusing on ‘the series of Korean literature works’ published by ‘the Institute for the Traditional Classics of Korea’. In particular, the author investigated what was adopted as the material of the work. If you search ‘the series of Korean literature Works’, there are little Jam and Myung or Jammyung in contents. Most writers and scholars left their work. With regard to the development of Jammyung-ryu in Sino-Korean Literature, the Gogyeng jungma bang of Tuegae Leewhuang is remarkable. It is based on the achievements of the creation of Jammyung-ryu accumulated before Tuegae, and it is the work that followed the creation of Jammyung-ryu. After Tuegae, sequels were produced by Jichon Lee Heejo in the early 18th, Gyeongam Jo Yeongui in the late 18th, and Park Jaehyeong in the late 19th century. Tuegae s Gogyeng jungma bang was used as an important teaching material in the study group where the king and his servants joined together during the Yeongjo and Jeongjo periods. This paper has two concerns. One is that what changs Jammyung-ryu prose has over the long period of time from Koryô to the end of Joseon, in terms of material, theme, passage of works or operation of the work, and the other is what role did Gogyeng jungma bang play in the development of Jammyung-ryu.
