A Study on Perception of Pregnancy Risk, Anxiety, and Spousal Support in Primigravidas

This study aims to identify the relationship among perception of pregnancy risk, anxiety, spouse support and to provide basic data for the antenatal care of environmental birth in an increasing number of elderly primigravidas. A sample of 160 primigravidas was recruited from two obstetrics and gynecology hospitals in Korea. The survey was conducted with participants using self reported questionnaire from march 3 to may 5, 2016. the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and correlation analysis. There were statistically significant differences in perception of pregnancy risk according to age in general and obstetric characteristics (t=2.03, p=.043). There were also statistically significant differences in spouse support scores according to age (t=3.82, p<.001), job (t=2.57, p=.011), and prenatal education (t=-2.72, p=.007). perception of pregnancy risk and spouse support were correlated with anxiety (r=.416, p<.001; r=-.176, p=.026). Primigravidas over 35 years old need enhanced perception of pregnancy risk. There is need for education about knowledge of high risk pregnancy.
