Hwang, Soonhee. 2014. The Role of Peer Evaluation and its Educational Effects in Team Based Speech Class. This paper aims to explore the role of peer evaluation and its educational effects in team based speech class. According to the examination of previous researches regarding the peer evaluation, few studies have focused on the correlated factors in terms of team based speech education. In this study, each team was composed of 5 team members, especially based on the communicative apprehension score and gender, grade respectively. This study was conducted with 101 engineering students at P University and data were analyzed based on over 500 peers’ evaluation sheets. Our findings showed that during peer evaluation, students felt uncomfortable, however they agreed to the needs of peer evaluation. Second, there were no significant gender and grade differences in peer evaluation. Third, we found a high correlation among team activities competence, communicative apprehension and peer evaluation. Based on these findings, it will continue to refine the instructive modules of team based speech class as well as verify their validities.
