Korean university students face a number of serious social issues that are related to social isolation and are impacted by the quality of their peer-group communications. Young people prefer using hi-tech means to communicate with the rapid development of communications technology. It has bought some negative effects like lack of trust, misunderstanding, and poor adaptation to social life. Communication pressures lead to other social problems. Prior research has suggested that direct face-to-face contact promotes higher-quality communications and a greater feeling of interconnectedness. Effective communication can help university students shape positive personal values, shape positive attitudes, resolve conflicts, and achieve emotional balance. This study wishes to investigate whether increased face-to-face communications can improve the quality of communications in the classroom and university setting. This study will survey approximately 400 students about the quality of their communication, their communication method, and the quality of their interpersonal relationships in order to determine the connection between in-person communications and relationship quality. This paper will discuss university student communication as well as compare and discuss ways to improve communication among university students. The results will be discussed, along with implications for the university classroom and for future research.
