지역금융상태가 지역생산에 미치는 효과 분석

The Effects of the Regional Finance on the Regional Economy

이 논문은 지역경제자료에 내재해 있는 공간의존성문제를 고려한 공간계량모형을 이용하여 지역금융상태가 지역경제활동에 미치는 효과와 공간의존성의 존재여부를 함께 추정하였다. 통제변수로는 대출금을 사용하였고 지방은행이 주요하게 활동하고 있는 부산을 포함한 9개 지역을 분석대상으로 삼았다. 사용한 모형은 패널자료에 기초한 공간자기회귀모형(spatial autoregessive model)이다. 추정결과, 지역금융을 대표하고 있는 지방은행의 재무상태 건전성(무수익여신비율과 고정이하 여신비율의 합)의 악화가 지역의 제조업생산을 떨어뜨리는 것으로 추정되어 이른바 ‘지역신용경로’가 국내 지역경제에서도 성립하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 특정지역의 경제성과는 인근지역의 지역금융상태에 의해서도 영향을 받는 것으로 추정되어 지역경제의 공간의존성이 존재하는 것으로 추정되었다. 공간의존성의 존재는 기존의 지역신용경로의 추정이 공간의존성을 고려하지 않은 상태에서 진행되어 온 결과들이 추정해 온 지역금융상태의 효과가 편의가 있다는 것을 의미한다. 따라서 공간의존성을 고려한 본 논문은 지역금융상태가 지역경제에 미치는 효과를 좀 더 정확히 추정한 결과라는 측면에서 중요한 의미를 지닌다고 하겠다.

This paper examines the effect of the regional financial conditions on the regional output. To do that, we adopt the spatial econometric model (SAR) that explicitly considers the spatial dependence problems embodied in the regional economic data. Specifically, the spatial autoregressive model (SAR) is used to estimate the effects of the regional financial conditions. Thus, the procedures in this paper may provide the more accurate estimates for the effects. And this method allow us to see whether the spatial dependence exists or not. The regional output is regressed on the regional financial conditions, with the variable such as the loan level controlled. The result of the paper shows that the financial conditions of the regional bank affect the regional economy measured by the regional manufacturing production index. This implies that the so-called regional credit channel exists in the Korean economy. And this paper provides the evidence of existence of spatial dependence. Because the previous studies of the regional credit channel did not consider the spatial dependence problems, this paper tackling those problems can contribute to the regional finance.
