태봉(후고구려)-후백제 역사벨트 조성과 현대적 계승

Establishing Taebong(Later Goguryo) - Later Baekje Historical Belt with a Focus on the Modern Succession

태봉과 후백제 역사벨트 구축은 후삼국을 주제로 한 역사·문화적 근거를 토대로 강호축 사업의 타당성을 확보 할 수 있다는 데 의의가 있다. 또한, 패배의 역사로 기록된 태봉과 후백제에 대한 역사 정립으로 해당 지역민의 자존감 제고 및 부정적 인식을 불식시킬 수 있다. 아울러 이 사업은 강호축 사업의 사회적 토대 및 공감대를 마련하는 근거로 작용할 수 있다. 한 발 더 나아가 남북교류 사업으로 발전시킬 수 있다. 본 연구는 먼저, 기존 연구가 후백제, 혹은 태봉 등 한 곳에만 집중했던 점에서 벗어나 거시적 관점으로 양자를 살펴보려고 한다. 구체적으로 이들이 한국사에서 남긴 족적이 분명함에도 제대로 평가 받지 못하는 점을 재조명하고, 통합할 수 있는 방안을 강구해 보고자 한다. 다음으로, 관련 유적의 발굴, 남북협력 사업까지 국정과제와 맞물려 있음을 살펴본다. 이후 관련 내용을 어떻게 활용할 수 있는지 사업 추진 방안에 집중하여 검토하려고 한다. 이와 같은 연구를 통해 그동안 각기 다른 방식으로 진행해 생각해 왔던 태봉과 후백제를 하나로 묶을 수 있는 계기가 되고, 현대적 계승을 위한 활용 방안을 고민해 볼 수 있을 것이다.

Establishment of a historical belt for Taebong(泰封) and Later Baekje(後百濟) is meaningful in that it validates the Ganghochug(江湖軸) project based on historical and cultural grounds of the three later kingdoms. Also, by reconstructing history of Taebong and Later Baekje that has been regarded as history of defeat, it can improve self-respect of people from the region and alleviate negative associations. It can provide grounds to build social foundations and consensus over the Ganghochug project, and taking a step further, promote exchanges between the two Koreas. To this end, first, we took a macro-level view to examine the two countries, while earlier research focused on either Later Baekje or Taebong alone. Specifically, we shed new light on the fact that these two countries have not been adequately appraised despite that they left clear marks in the Korean history, and sought ways to consolidate their history into the Korean history. Next, we examined how excavation of their relics and cooperation between the two Koreas are tied to the national agenda. Then we explored how to make use of these findings, with a focus on the plan of project implementation. These endeavors are expected to provide an opportunity to combine discourses on Taebong and Later Baekjae that have been separately examined until now, and it would be a worthy effort to seek how to make use of the research findings for their modern-day succession.
