근대전환기 경운궁·창덕궁의 서양 식공간 특성에 관한 연구

A Study on the Characteristics of Western-Style Dining Spaces in Gyeongungung Palace and Changdeokgung Palace in Modern Transitional Period: Focused on Dondeokjeon, Seokjojeon and Huijeongdang

본 연구는 근대전환기 경운궁·창덕궁 내 서양 식공간 특성을 고찰하였으며, 집약된 연구의 내용은 다 음과 같다. 첫째, 경운궁·창덕궁 내 서양 식공간의 공간 연출요소를 분석한 결과, 돈덕전은 르네상스 및 고딕양식을 절충한 건축외관과 프랑스식 실내공간 특징을 가지며, 석조전에는 신고전주의 양식, 희정당 에는 전통 한식구조와 내부의 서양식구조가 혼합된 한양절충식이 나타났다. 둘째, 경운궁·창덕궁 내 서 양 식공간의 가구 연출요소를 분석한 결과, 돈덕전은 품위와 우아함을 특징으로 하는 프랑스풍의 특징 을 가지며, 석조전에는 단순하고 고풍스러운 영국식 가구 및 배치, 희정당에는 바로크 양식과 신고전주 의, 로코코 양식이 절충되어 나타났다. 셋째, 경운궁·창덕궁 내 서양 식공간의 테이블 연출요소를 분석 한 결과, 1905년 이전에는 프랑스와 영국 그리고 일본에서 서양 식기를 직접 구매하였으며, 1905년 이 후에는 일본산 양식기 및 테이블웨어가 유입되었다. 본 연구는 근대전환기 경운궁·창덕궁 내 서양 식공 간의 공간 연출, 가구 연출, 테이블 연출을 중심으로 한 서양 식공간의 시원적(始原的) 모습에 대한 탐 색과 문화유산과 관련된 식공간 전시를 통해 일반인들의 흥미와 관심을 고취시킬 수 있다는 시사점을 갖으며, 향후에는 근대전환기 서양 생활문화와 함께 유입된 식문화 및 식생활사 등에 대한 연구가 필요 하다고 판단된다.

This study examined the types and characteristics of Western-style dining spaces in Gyeongungung palaces and Changdeokgung palace in Modern Traansitional Period, and the results are as follows. First, as a result of analyzing the spatial elements of the Western-style dining space in the palace, the French style was found in Dondeokjeon and the neo-classical English style was found in Seokjojeon, and the Hanyang eclecticism, a mixture of traditional Korean and Western structures, was found. Second, as a result of analyzing the furniture elements, the architectural philosophy pursued by French style appeared in Dondeokjeon, simple and old-fashioned furniture was placed in Seokjojeon, and the baroque style, neoclassicism, and rococo style appeared in the Heejeongdang. Third, as a result of analyzing the table elements, Western dishes were purchased directly from France, England and Japan before 1905, and Japanese Western-dishes and tableware were introduced after 1905. This study explored the original appearance of Western dining spaces centering on the space, furniture, and table direction of the modern palace. This has the implication that the interests of ordinary citizens can be promoted through the exhibition of dining spaces related to cultural heritage. In the future, it is considered necessary to study the food culture introduced along with the modern Western life culture.
