다문화가정 어머니의 사회경제적 지위, 문화적응 스트레스, 부모효능감에 대한 종단연구

The longitudinal study of relationships between socioeconomic status, acculturative stress, and parenting efficacy within multicultural families

본 연구는 가족스트레스모델에 근거하여 다문화가정 어머니의 사회경제적 지위와 부모효능감의 관계에서 문화적응 스트레스의 매개효과를 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구는 한국청소년정책연구원의 다문화청소년 패널조사(MAPS)의 종단자료 중 2011년에서 2017년에 걸쳐 수집된 총 1626명의 자료를 SPSS 26과 Mplus 8.4 프로그램을 사용하여 분석하였다. 일변량 잠재성장분석과 다변량 잠재성장분석(multivariate latent growth modeling)을 사용하여 다문화가정 어머니의 사회경제적 지위와 부모효능감의 관계가 문화적응 스트레스에 의해 매개되는지 살펴본 결과, 초기치의 문화적응 스트레스는 1년차의 사회경제적 지위와 초기치의 부모효능감의 관계를 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 1년차의 사회경제적 지위와 다문화가정 어머니의 문화적응 스트레스 변화량은 정적으로 유의미한 것으로 나타났으며, 높은 문화적응 스트레스 변화량은 낮은 부모효능감 변화량과 관련되는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 다문화가정 어머니의 문화적응 스트레스의 매개역할을 밝힘으로써 다문화가정 어머니가 경제적 어려움과 낮은 부모효능감을 경험할 때 문화적응 스트레스를 통한 개입이 효율적일 수 있음을 보여주었다. 이러한 개입전략은 어머니의 정신건강 뿐 아니라 다문화 가정 자녀에게도 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of acculturative stress of mother of multicultural family between socioeconomic status of the family and parenting efficacy. The 2011-2017 data from Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study(MAPS) was used for data analysis. Data of 1626 participants was analyzed using SPSS version 26 and Mplus version 8.4. Results of multivariate latent growth modeling showed that acculturative stress mediated the relationship between socioeconomic status and parenting efficacy. Also, socioeconomic status was positively associated with acculturative stress’s change rate, and change rate of acculturative stress was negatively associated with change rate of parenting efficacy. The results indicate that financial challenge and resulting low level of parenting efficacy can be improved by reducing mothers’ acculturative stress. Reduction of parental acculturative stress and improved parenting efficacy are expected to enhance adolescents’ mental health as well.
