Social and Cultural Implications of Historical-Cultural Contents through the Concept of ‘Historytelling’

본 연구는 ‘히스토리텔링’ 개념을 통한 역사문화콘텐츠의 사회문화적 의미를 다룬다. 이를 위해, 우선 본 연구는 스토리텔링을 거시적인 관점에서 접근하고, 이것이 현재의 사회문화적 조건 속에서 역사와 결합될 수 있는 가능성을 탐색하였다. 이러한 맥락에서, 스토리텔링은 비주얼, 디지털, 컨버전스 차원에서 현재의 국면들을 설명할 수 있는 개념임을 확인하였다. 이를 통해, 본 연구는 비주얼 히스토리텔링, 디지털 히스토리텔링, 컨버전스 히스토리텔링의 관점에서 새로운 역사 연구 영역으로서 역사문화콘텐츠는 어떻게 이해될 수 있는지 제시하였다. 논의 결과, 역사문화콘텐츠는 역사를 다시 인식하게 한다, 이는 역사문화콘텐츠가 일상의 역사적 실천을 논의하는 것이며, 역사적 해석과 그것의 생산 그리고 소비의 과정에서 미디어를 수반하기 때문이다. 그리고 역사문화콘텐츠는 과거와 더불어 현재를 다루는 영역이며, 텍스트가 아닌 미디어를 기반으로 하여 역사를 다루는 영역으로 이해될 수 있다. 결론적으로 말해, 역사문화콘텐츠는 종래의 ‘역사쓰기’를 넘어서 ‘역사하기’로 변화되는 모습으로 설명될 수 있다.

This study deals with the the social and cultural implications of historical-cultural contents through the concept of ‘historytelling’. To this end, this study first approached storytelling from a macro perspective, exploring the possibility that this could be combined with history in the present social and cultural conditions. In this context, storytelling has confirmed that it is a concept that can explain the current aspects at the visual, digital and convergence levels. Through this, this study presented how historical-cultural contents can be understood as a new area of historical research from the perspective of visual historytelling, digital historytelling, and convergence historytelling. Altogether, historical-cultural contents make history re-recognized, because it discusses the historical practice of daily life, and involve media in the course of historical interpretation and its production and consumption. And historical-cultural contents are areas that deal with the present as well as the past, and can be understood as areas that deal with history based on media rather than text. In conclusion, historical-cultural contents can be described as being transformed into “history doing,” not conventional “history writing.”
