빈집의 장소기억을 활용한 박물관 및 관광콘텐츠 기획 사례 연구

A Case Study on the Planning of Museum & Tourism Contents Using Place Memory of Vacant Houses

본 논문은 빠르게 증가하고 있는 빈집에 대한 국가적 우려와 빈집 활용에 대한 사회적 요구에 주목하여 빈집을 콘텐츠로 활용할 수 있는 콘텐츠 기획 가능성을 두 개의 해외사례연구를 통해 살피고 있다. 본 논문에서 분석하고 있는 사례는 미국의 ‘로어이스트사이드 주택 박물관(Lower East Side Tenement Museum)’과 ‘윌킨스버그 빈집 투어(Wilkinsburg Vacant Home Tour)’이다. 이 두 사례는 빈집을 박물관 및 전시콘텐츠, 관광콘텐츠화 하는데 있어서 빈집의 장소기억을 배제하지 않고, 이를 콘텐츠의 이야기요소로서 적극적으로 활용하고 있다. 또한 화려한 외관과 훌륭한 시설을 지향하는 콘텐츠가 아닌, 그 안에 있었던 ‘사람’과 ‘그 사람들이 가지고 있는 내용’으로 점철된 콘텐츠를 지향하고 있다. 그래서 사라져가는 ‘빈집’과 ‘그곳에 살았던 사람들’, ‘주변 환경’ 등에 대한 기억을 되살리면서 사라져가는 유ㆍ무형유산들에 대한 의미와 가치를 찾아갈 수 있는 콘텐츠의 기획 방향성을 제시하고 있다. 본 논문은 이와 같은 사례의 기획 방향성에 주목하여 앞으로 빈집의 장소기억을 발굴하고 콘텐츠로서 활용할 수 있는 하나의 모델을 제시하는데 있어서 적용 가능한 시사점을 도출하고자 한다.

This paper seeks the possibility of contents-planning through two overseas case studies that can use vacant houses as contents, paying attention to national concerns about the rapidly increasing number of vacant houses and social demands for the using of that houses. This paper examines the Lower East Side Tenement Museum and the Wilkinsburg Vacant Home Tour, which are examples of overseas. Both of them are contented using the memory of vacant houses. These two examples do not rule out the place memory of vacant houses, but instead actively use them as a story element of contents. In addition, they aim to create contents that is dotted with ‘people’ and ‘what they have’ that was in it, not contents that is aimed at splendid appearance and excellent facilities. Therefore, it brings back memories of “Vacant Houses,” “People who lived there” and “Neighborhoods,” suggesting the direction of planning for contents that can find meaning and value for the missing tangible and intangible heritage. By paying attention to the planning direction of these cases, this paper seeks to draw up applicable implications in discovering the place memory of vacant houses in the future and presenting a model that can be used as contents.
