지역문화원형을 활용한 공연콘텐츠개발 사례연구

Case Study on Development of Performance Contents Using Local Culture Prototype

실경공연은 일반적인 극장공연과 비교해 볼 때 자연 배경 그 자체가 공연의 주요 구성요소가 되기 때문에 복제 불가능한 유일성을 가지게 된다. 더불어 실경공연은 장소성을 지닌 지역의 문화원형을 다양하게 개발해서 공연소재로 이용하기 때문에 그 지역에서만 체험할 수 있는 매력적인 공연예술이라고 할 수 있다. 이러한 요인들로 인해 중국에서는 다양한 실경공연이 시도되었으나, 그 중에서 성공했다고 일컬을 만한 공연은 소수에 불과하다. 실경공연은 새로운 공연콘텐츠였기에 아직까지 관련연구가 부족하며, 실경공연이 어떠한 요인으로 성공하였고 실패하였는지에 대해 알기 어려웠다. 따라서 향후 성공적인 실경공연 제작을 위해서는 지금까지 이루어진 실경공연에 대해 연구할 필요가 있다. 본고에서는 대표적인 실경공연 시리즈인 <인상시리즈> 중 가장 성공한 작품으로 평가받는 <인상유삼저>와 실패한 작품으로 지적되는 <인상해남도>를 지역문화원형이라는 기준으로 비교, 분석해 성공요인과 실패요인을 살펴보고자 하였다. 두 실경공연의 분석을 바탕으로 성공적인 실경공연 제작을 위해 지역성과 보편성을 겸비한 원형 스토리를 발굴하고, 다양한 지역 풍습ㆍ문화ㆍ예술 등을 공연소재로 표현하며, 문화원형에 입각하여 장소성을 확보한 공연장 구축의 필요성을 제시하였다.

Natural landscape performance comes to have the uniqueness of being unreproducible as the background of nature itself is a major component element compared to general theatre performance. In addition, natural landscape performance develops the cultural archetype of the area having a sense of place in diverse ways and utilizes it as the material of performance, and so it can be said to be the attractive performing art that enables people to experience it only in the area. Owing to these factors, a diversity of natural landscape performances have been attempted in China, but only a few performances of them can be said to have been successful. Seeing that natural landscape performance is a new performance content, its relevant studies have poorly been conducted. So it was difficult to find out for what reason natural landscape performances either succeeded or failed. Accordingly, there is a need to study the natural landscape performances thus far presented in order to produce successful natural landscape performance in the future. This study attempted to investigate their successful and unsuccessful factors by comparing and analyzing the <Impression Sanjie Liu> evaluated as the most successful work of the <Impression Series>, the representative series of natural landscape performances, and <Impression Hainan> pointed out as the unsuccessful work on the basis of local culture archetype. Based on the analysis of two natural landscape performances, this study presented a need to mine the archetypical stories with locality and universality, express diverse local customs, cultures and arts as the material of performance and construct the performance arena having placeness or a sense of place based on cultural archetypes with a view to succeeding in producing natural landscape performance.
