주지하듯 계급 제도는 인간 사회를 지탱하는 주요 논리 중 하나다. 계급 구조는 인간의 역사와 함 께 발전해 온 논리라 할 수 있다. 인류사에 있어서 이러한 논리는 남녀 관계에서도 생겨나고 다양화 되어왔다. 여성성, 남성성이라는 개념 구분도 만들어졌다. 섹스(sex)와 젠더(gender) 개념도 구별되었 다. 20세기를 지나면서 이 맥락들이 확대되고 사회에 많은 영향을 미쳤다. 남성과 여성의 관계를 규 정하는 모든 관념들, 온갖 형태의 담론들, 전 세계 신화로부터 도덕규범에 이르는 내용들 모두가 문화 라 할 수 있다. 본고는 이 남녀 관계를 앤소니 기든스의 시각으로 <이상한 나라의 앨리스>라는 유명 판타지 콘텐츠 속에서 살펴보았다. <이상한 나라의 앨리스>는 교훈적인 형태의 동화를 탈피한 이야 기로 잘 알려져 있다. 자기 스스로를 찾는 형태의 내용이 전체 이야기의 주를 이루고 있다. 이 이상한 나라는 우리의 상상력 어딘가에 감추어져 있는 나라이며 풍자적인 분위기를 띠고 있지만, 일반적인 사회의 특성도 많이 지니고 있는 나라인 듯하다. 남녀 관계 및 기든스의 관점으로 앨리스 등 주요 인물들에 대해 생각해 보고 주변 배경을 함께 고찰해 보려한다.

It is well known that the class system is one of the major logics which sustains human society. The hierarchy system is a logic that has been developed with human history. Even this logic appeared in the relationships between man and woman, and has been varied in human history. The notion of masculinity and femininity were differentiated. And, the conception of gender and sex was identified. This context extended over the 20th century and gave a lot of influence to society. All ideas and forms of discourse from myth to morals which defines the relationship between man and woman can be called culture. This article is about the relationship in <Alice in Wonderland>, famous fantasy contents, from the perspective of Anthony Giddens. As we all know, <Alice in Wonderland> is not a didactic fairy tales. But it has a issue that protagonist finds herself throughout the story. It seems that this wonderland has concealed somewhere in our imagination, though a satirical mood, and the nature of the general society. Considering the relationships between man and woman and the perspective of Giddens, I will think about Alice and other major figures and study background of story’s ideas. It could be told that the way of democratic life is the most precious element in our current society, if we seriously conceive the ideas of relationship between man and woman. This would probably be an answer to understand the gender role at the present time.
