코리아타운 축제와 스토리텔링

Koreatown Festivals and Storytelling

이 연구는 뉴욕 플러싱, 심양 서탑, 오사카 이쿠노 코리아타운에서 개최된 3개의 축제를 간단하게 소개하고 있다. 이들 축제들은 다양한 한국문화의 양상에 초점을 맞추고 있지만, 개개 코리아타운 거주자의 이야기나 코리아타운이 설립되어온 역사를 충분히 반영하지 못했다. 영화, 드라마, 게임, 애니메이션 등 문화콘텐츠는 각기 고유한 방식의 스토리텔링을 기반으로 기획, 제작한다. 코리아타운 축제도 같은 방식을 보여주어야 한다. 이 연구는 구술이든 글이든 스토리를 수집하고 이들 데이터를 사용하여 재외한인의 역사를 현 세대에서 다음 미래세대로 나아가게 하는 자원으로 활용할 수 있는 지식맵의 구축이 중요함을 강조하고 있다.

This study briefly introduces three festivals held at Koreatowns in Flushing, New York; Shenyang, China; and Osaka, Japan. Although these festivals focus on different Korean cultural aspects, they do not pay enough attention to incorporating stories of the history of the residents and the establishment of the respective Koreatowns. Other cultural contents, such as movies, dramas, games, and animation incorporate storytelling according to particular styles. Korean ethnic cultural festivals should do the same thing. This study emphasizes the importance of collecting oral and/or written stories and using that data to construct knowledge maps to use as resources to pass histories of overseas Koreans on to present and future generations.
