창작공간 개념 고찰 및 유형별 지원방안에 관한 탐색적 연구

An Exploratory Study on the Concept of Creative Space and its Support Policy

우리나라의 창작공간에 대한 관심은 1997년 이래 급격하게 증가하고 있다. 예술가의 창작 활동 확보 및 사회의 창조적 역량이 중요시 되는 현 시점에서창작공간의 역할이 더욱 중요하게 되었다. 그럼에도 불구하고 창작공간은 학문적이나 제도적 정책적으로 합의된 정의가 존재하지 않으며, 용어 자체도 현재 우리나라에서는 유사하지만 상이한 용어들과 혼용되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 창작공간에 대하여 우리나라보다 앞서 학문적/정책적 고민을 하였던 독일, 미국, 그리고 일본의 창작공간 개념및 지원정책을 살펴보려한다. 정책적 지원 전과 지원 후의 간섭에 따라 창작공간을 유형화하고, 각국의 창작공간 정책을 매핑하여, 한국의 창작공간 개념 고찰의 근거를 마련하는탐색적 연구를 수행하려 한다. 본 연구는 현재 논의되는 ‘창작공간’의 역할을 예술가만의 공간으로서의 역할과 사회 및 지역과의 긴밀한 연계 역할을 바탕으로 창작 공간의 개념과 역할을 설정하려 한다. 개념을 고찰함에 있어 기능, 사용목적, 운영주체에 따라 분류 하였다. 또한 창작공간을 창작작업, 예술가간의 네트워크 구성, 예술과 사회연결로3가지로 유형화 함으로 각각의 특징 및 법적, 정책적 지원을 고찰하였다. 이는창작공간의 학문적 논의의 풍부함과 더불어 정책적 시사점을 제시 할 것으로기대 한다. 끝으로 본 연구의 시사점과 함께, 연구가 가지는 한계점과 미래연구를 위한 방향제언도 함께 논의하여 제시 하였다.

Interests in the country’s creative space has since 1997 grown rapidly. The role of the creative space is important at this time when the creative capacity of the artist’s creative activity and support the more secure and social importance. Nevertheless, the creative space is not a well-established concept in academic and policy terms. The current residency program in Korea has mixed various terms including creative space, creative Residence, creative studio, In addition, the legal, institutional and policy support of the central government is required. Yet, there is not sufficient understanding of the creative studio status and, thus, the systematic investigation and scientific analysis and support measures for the creative space is needed. In this paper, the cases of Germany, the United States, and Japan have been investigated who have implemented the policy concerned with creative space. More specifically, each country-specific policy on the basis of the countries view towards the concept of creative space, and its support and intervention after the support. The aim of this study is to explore the concept of creative space. More specifically, this study deals with how to set up the concept, the role of the creative space, and how the space serves a role to closely connect with local communities.
