연극 <메피스토> 의 ‘탈脫 파우스트’ 경향

연극 <메피스토>는 서사의 중심이 메피스토이고, 메피스토에 의한 서사담화는 ‘우리시대의 파우스트’ 인 ‘선과 악의 이중인격자 파우스트’ 의 이야기이다. 이 서사에서 핵은 ‘파우스트의 타락과 죄’ 이고, 촉매는 ‘파우스트의 죄에 대한 각성’이다. 연극 <메피스토>는 선과 악, 타락과 순수,사랑과 욕망 그 사이에서 갈등하는 인간의 양면성을 극대화시키는 ‘탈脫파우스트’ 경향에 치중한다. <메피스토> 의 극음악은△코러스 중심의 음악이 핵심으로, △지속적인 전자 음악△서정적인 피아노 음악△메피스토의 독창 등이 부수로, 각각 자리하고 있다. 극음악의 ‘탈脫파우스트’ 경향의 본질은 코러스 중심의 음악이 파우스트의 내면세계를 적극적으로 반영하는 것이다. <원형파우스트>의 극음악(음악극)적 수용은 텍스트와 재창조의 괴리를 없애는 데 공시적 의의가 있다. 이때 단순히 이야기의 재구성에만 의존하기보다는 서사와 음악을 동시에 차용ㆍ교차ㆍ변형하는 ‘새롭게 만들기’의 과정을 통하여 상호텍스트성과 상호매체성을 동시에 구현할 필요가 있다.

In Play Mephisto, Mephisto is at the center of narrative, which is a story about Faust who is a double-faced person of good and evil representing people of the current era. In this narrative, the key factor of the event is Faust’s corruption and sin, while a catalyst for the event is Faust’s awakening of his sin. Mephisto pursues a departure from Faust by describing in a catastrophic manner the double-sidedness of humans who are in dilemma between good and evil, between innocence and corruption, and between love and desire and thereby maximizing the tragic nature. The music of Mephisto consists of △ chorus-centered music as the main music, and △ continuous electronic music, △ lyrical piano music, △ Mephisto’s solo, etc. as the minor music. In the music of Mephisto, the tendency to depart from Faust is clearly indicated in the fact that the chorus-centric music clearly reflects the inside of Faust. The acceptance of the drama music of Ur Faust serves a synchronic function to bridge the gap between the text of the past and recreation of the present. To this end, rather than to simply rely upon the reorganization of the story, it is necessary to borrow narrative and music at the same time, and make them intersect and transform each other, thereby realizing the intertextuality and intermediality at the same time.
