박물관 고을 영월의 지역자원 현황과영월 에코뮤지엄 가능성

Possibility to Be an Ecomuseum in Yeongwol and Regional Resources with Museums

박물관의 사회적 역할이 부각되면서 박물관의 새로운 패러다임으로네트워킹이 강조되고 있다. 근대의 박물관 구조가 엘리트들에 의해서기획되고 운영되는 닫힌 시스템이었다면, 포스트모던 시대에는 대중을향한 열린 시스템으로 나아갔다. 또한 새로운 박물관학의 시대에는 내외부적인 네트워킹의 시대에 돌입하였다. 현대의 박물관은 네트워킹이원활하게 이루어지고 상호 협력적인 조직력이 있어야지만 박물관의 기능을 할 수 있게 되는 것이다. 박물관 고을 영월을 표방하면서 새로운 시도를 계속하고 있는 영월은 그동안 문화자원을 바탕으로 한 지역이미지 구축을 지속적으로 해왔다. 영월은 다양한 콘텐츠를 보유한 박물관들을 보유하고 있으며, 특히 빼어난 자연자원과 역사문화유산을 갖고 있다. 영월의 박물관들은 다양한 테마를 갖고 운영되고 있으나, 상호협력적인 조직력이 미흡한 상황이고, 다양한 지역 자원과 연계하는 방안에대해서도 구체적인 방법을 찾지 못하고 있다. 이는 영월의 박물관들이향후의 미래 사회에 지역 문화콘텐츠로서 어떻게 기능할 수 있을까에대한 의문을 제기하게 한다. 또한 박물관 고을 영월의 정체성에 대해서도 논의할 필요가 있다. 박물관의 수가 많아지면 지역사회에 어떤 기여를 하는가? 지역 전체를 박물관으로 보는 주민주도의 지역문화 운동인에코뮤지엄은 영월의 정책에 철학적 가치 지향점을 제공할 수 있을 것이다. 이에 본고에서는 에코뮤지엄의 주요한 특징인 네트워킹에 주목하여 영월의 지역자원을 조사하고, 에코뮤지엄으로서의 가능성에 대해서연구하고자 하였다. 새로운 테마를 갖는 박물관을 지속적으로 짓는다고 해서 진정한 박물관 도시가 되는 것이 아니라 지역에 이미 있는 자원을 발굴하고 그것들의 상호 관계성을 고민하고 서로 연계할 때 살아있는 박물관 고을 영월을 만들 수 있을 것이다.

This study aims to network resources, consider a possibility of ecomuseum, and analyze resources in Yeongwol. Networking is receiving the public attention as a new paradigm of contemporary museums. Unlike the modern museums with a closed system, an open system was introduced in the post modern period and a networking based era has started in the new museology period. The functions of the contemporary museums depend on effective networking and mutually cooperative organizational capability. As a museum village, Yeongwol has built up regional image on cultural resources in addition to something new. Yeongwol has beautiful nature, tangible and intangible heritage. Each museum in Yeongwol is specialized in specific subjects;however, no cooperative system or effective methods are being available to vary resources in the region. To find ways for museums to contribute to the communities, the region can find the direction and philosophical values of its policies in the ecomuseum characterized as a citizen-driven regional and cultural campaign considering the entire region as a museum. Thus, this study intends to analyze the regional resources and research its feasibility as an ecomuseum, focusing on networking. A genuine museum village Yeongwol can be made only when the already-exciting regional resources are discovered and linked together based on their nature of relationship rather than building more museums.
