Fostering policies of social enterprises in Korea are based on various supports to the enterprises satisfying criteria designated by the government. The government pursues social enterprises which provide social services and jobs for the weak and the vulnerable. Until now the government has mainly performed supports of personnel expenses for the social enterprise. To obtain authentication of the social enterprises, they should meet seven requirements-organization types, business activities through paid employees, realization of social goals, decision making structures, revenue of the business, regulations and articles of the enterprises and re-investment of profits for social goals. From the viewpoint of management, it is important that the government should classify the social enterprises into the social service suppliers, the job suppliers for the vulnerable and the social innovators, and that it should perform differentiated support policies according to the classification of the enterprises. And the paper suggests specific policy tasks for success of the social enterprises as follows : elimination of government-dependent risks, support by the large companies, enlargement of authentication system for the preliminary social enterprises, vitalization of the social enterprise in the local districts, increasing economy competence of the civil society, aligning function of coordination in the central government departments, requisites of establishment and governance structure of the social enterprise, fostering and supporting system of the social enterprise, improving business activities and performance of the social enterprise, follow-up services of the social enterprise, and enhancement of the transparency of the social enterprise.
