The Effects of Ethical Management on Organizational Citizenship Behavior

The main objective of this study is to empirically analyze the effect of ethical management on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). Extending previous studies of ethical management, this study distinguishes between inward and outward ethical managerial behaviors and subsequently tries to identify the differential effects of each type of behavior on OCB. In addition, organizational commitment is recognized as a mediating variable between ethical management and OCB. 220 questionnaires across various industries are used for statistical analysis. Overall, ethical management is found to affect organizational commitment which in turn influences OCB. Inward ethical managerial behavior is found to show statistically significant effect on OCB and organizational commitment is found to mediate between inward ethical managerial behavior and OCB. However, this study cannot find the statistically significant effect of outward ethical management on OCB.
