Today’s paradigm of the health information system changes from the hospital-oriented to the customer-oriented system, where a smart health care system plays an important role. Based on the government lead project of standardization for health care, the smart health care system will make it possible to share medical data among hospitals and to build the remote diagnosis services and door-to-door diagnosis services. The paper suggests the design of the smart health care system with convergence of IoT (Internet of Things), which utilizes data of medical diagnosis records and disease prevention systems, SNS, smart phones. Since the smart health system can anytime anywhere store the individual’s medical data of diagnoses and examinations, exercise momentum, and health status with biometrics, it will provide the individual with the more accurate medical diagnosis and the alarm service in case of bad health. And it will provide the individual with remote diagnoses as well as remote parents’ health checking. The smart health care system is predicted in the domestic market as follows. Since Korea has the most competitive in the world in the area of wire and wireless communication infrastructure and also adadpts itself well to the new technologies, it is anticipated to grow fast. As well, the well-equipped national health insurance system will make it accelerate further together with increased elderly people, demand of higher medical services and nursing home services. To make the smart health care system as a successful business model, requirements are as follows. First of all, standardization and compatibility of the system elements are important since they will be determining factors of success. Especially standardization of the data for medical records and image records are urgent for the system activation and saving of the maintenance cost. And each hospital is required for active attitude of acceptance in data supply and sharing. Secondly, the system requires stakeholders’ cooperation as well as consistent update through the pilot project led by the government. Thirdly, attention should be paid to the sensitive medical data of the individual for security. Fourthly, legal regulations and systems should be organized to support the smart health care system.
