This study was to evaluate the effects of underwater walking mental practice to improve on motor function of stroke patients. Subjects were randomly allocated to two groups: experimental(n=13) and control(n=11). Both groups received treadmill training for 3 session 30 minutes per week during 6 weeks. Experimental group practiced additional underwater walking mental practice. Outcome measurements were performed by Fugl-Meyer assessment and functional independence measure. In the results of study, there was significantly improvement by motor imagery training in outcomes of the Fugl-Meyer assessment (p<.05). In conclusion, the underwater walking mental practice with physical walking training improves motor function by Fugl-Meyer assessment.
