The purpose of this study was to investigate the features of IT convergence-type projects that was carried out in a university attached Science Gifted Education Center with 3 stage learning model. The 16 middle school students (7th and 8th graders) participated in the IT convergence program in 2018. The data collection included class satisfaction questionnaire, individual students research plans, project outputs (NetLogo files, learning reports, etc.) and interview data. The results of the study interpreting the project performance activities were reported and further described focusing on the three actively participated students in the following ways. First, the participating students usually used the NetLogo program to practice the simulation of the food chain of Suncheon Bay according to their own ideas, and ended up with indirectly experiencing the situation of Suncheon Bay. Second, the students were able to use the Raspberry Pi board to create time-lapse devices, and utilized various knowledge through individual topic exploration and bio-observation activities in Suncheon Bay. In the process of selecting, planning, and conducting research projects of their own, students felt satisfied that they had completed the projects, and developed systematic and logical ways of thinking through research activities based on their research plans. Third, they revealed their interests in exploring convergent topics in everyday life. Overall, they showed the possibility of expanding and deepening STEAM convergence learning by suggesting various individual projects through grafting with science, mathematics, and engineering.
