The Impact of Personal Experience on Fear of Crime

본 연구는 ‘경험 요인’이 범죄두려움에 어떻게 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해서 ‘일반적 범죄두려움’과‘구체적 범죄두려움’을 조사하고, 환경에 대한 인식을 질문하였다. 이에 대해 다음과 같은 결론을 제시하고자 한다. 첫째, 범죄피해경험은 범죄두려움에 부정적인 요인을 작용하는 것을 알 수 있다. 둘째, 특정 공간의 공간경험여부(거주여부)가 환경 인식에 차이를 보이지는 않는 것을 알 수 있다. 셋째, 범죄두려움의 특성에 따라 경험이 미치는 영향이 다르게 나타나는 것을 알 수 있다. ‘일반적 범죄두려움’에 대해서는 ‘범죄피해경험’과 ‘공간경험’이 모두 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. ‘범죄피해경험’은 범죄두려움을 증가시키는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 ‘공간경험’은 오히려 범죄두려움에 부정적으로 작용하는 것으로 나타났다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how experience factors affect fear of crime. For this purpose, I investigated general fear of crime and specific fear of crime and asked about environmental awareness. The results of this study are as follows. First, it can be seen that experience of crime victimization has a negative effect on fear of crime. Second, it can be seen that the experience of a specific space does not show a difference in environmental perception. Third, it can be seen that the effects of experience vary depending on the characteristics of fear of crime. For general fear of crime , experience of crime victimization and experience of space were all influenced. And Experience of crime victimization increased fear of crime. However, spatial experience was found to negatively affect fear of crime.
