상호문화학습을 위한 ARCS 동기 모델 활용 방안 연구

Study on Using ARCS Motivation Model for Intercultural Learning: Focused on Cultural Intelligence

학습동기 모델로서의 ARCS 모델은 한마디로 ‘왜 학습해야 하는가’라는 질문을 그 핵심으로 한다. 이 근본 질문은 주의집중(Attention), 관련성(Relevance), 자신감(Confidence), 만족감(Satisfaction)이라는 네 개의 구성요소로 구체화 된다. 학습을 하고자 하는 사람을 위한 첫 번째 동기 부여는 학습하는 내용에 대해 끌리게 만들어야 한다는 것이다. 주의집중이 바로 이것이다. 두 번째 중요한 동기 부여는 학습의 내용이 과연 학습자의 삶과 어떤 관련성이 있는지를 제시할 수 있어야 한다는 점이다. 세 번째는 학습에 대한 학습자의 자신감과 확신, 네 번째는 만족감을 줄 수 있어야 한다는 것인데, 학습에 대한 높은 자신감과 확신, 그리고 만족감은 당연히 중요한 동기로 작동하지 않을 수 없다. 평생학습을 필요로 하고 있는 상호문화학습 역시 ‘왜 학습해야 하는가’라는 학습자의 근본적 질문을 피할 수가 없다. 상호문화학습의 한 가지 방안으로서의 문화지능(CQ) 역시도 이 질문에서 자유로울 수가 없다. 이에 상호문화학습 특히 그 중에서 문화지능 학습의 동기 향상을 위해 교육학적 관점의 동기이론인 ARCS 모델을 접목시켜 효과적인 학습 방안에 대해 고찰해 보고자 한다.

The ARCS model as a learning motivation model is based on the question of why we should learn. This fundamental question is embodied by four components: Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction. The first motivation for those who want to learn is to be attracted to what they are learning. This is the attention. The second important motivation is to be able to suggest how the content of learning relates to the learner s life. The third is the learner s confidence in learning, and the fourth is to be able to give satisfaction. High confidence and satisfaction in learning can, of course, act as an important motivation. Intercultural learning, which requires lifelong learning, also avoids the fundamental question of the learners, Why should we learn? Cultural intelligence(CQ) as a way of intercultural learning is also not free from this question. In order to improve the motivation of cultural intelligence learning, I will examine the effective learning plan by combining ARCS model, which is the motive theory of pedagogy.
