초급 교환학생 학습자를 위한 과제 중심의 한국어 교수요목 설계

Task-based Syllabus Design for Exchange Students in the Beginning Level of Korean

이 연구는 대학에서 초급 한국어를 수강하는 교환학생을 대상으로 한 요구분석을 통해 과제 중심 교수요목을 제시하는 데에 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 교환학생 151명을 대상으로 하여 요구 조사를 실시하였으며, 그 결과 교환학생들의 한국어 과목 수강 목적이 학문 목적 학습자들의 것과 차별화된다는 사실을 확인하였다. 또한 이에 따른 요구를 만족시켜 주는 데 과제 중심의 교수법이 효과적일 것으로 보고 학습자들을 대상으로 한 과제 선호도 조사 결과를 반영하여 과제 중심 교수요목을 설계하였다. 이 연구는 실제로 한국의 대학에서 한국어 수업을 수강하는 교환학생들의 요구를 비교적 큰 규모의 샘플을 대상으로 하여 조사하였으며, 그 조사 결과를 반영하여 교수요목을 설계하였다는 점에서 앞으로 교육 현장에 활용도가 높을 것으로 본다.

The purpose of this study is to suggest a task-based syllabus based on a needs analysis for exchange students in Korea taking a Korean language course. The needs analysis was conducted with 151 exchange students taking beginning-level Korean courses. Results confirmed that the exchange students’ purpose of taking Korean courses is different from that of academic purpose learners. Since the task-based teaching method is supposed to provide authenticity and interest of learning, which are exchange students’ main purposes, we selected a task-based syllabus for exchange students. To develop a task-based syllabus for them, we first extracted 15 themes from the list of themes for Korean teaching suggested in the “International Standard Curriculum of Korean Language” and developed tasks based on Willis·Willis(2012) and literature for the needs analysis. Second, based on the results of the need analysis, two tasks were selected for each theme. Third, functions and expressions were selected for each task. By doing so, a task-based syllabus for exchange students belonging to the beginning level was established. This can be used as a basis for developing educational content and teaching materials, especially for exchange students.
