FDI 유입이 중국 지역경제성장에 미치는 영향에 관한 실증분석

The Effect of Inward FDI on the Regional Economic Growth in China

중국의 개혁개방이 이루어진 이후, 중국은 적극적인 외국인직접투자 유입정책을 통해 산업구조를 고도화하였고, 자국 기업의 경쟁력 강화와 기업 역량을 흡수하였다. 본 논문은 중국 각 지역에서 외국인직접투자 유입이 지역 경제성장에 어떤 영향을 미치고 있는가를 파악하기 위해 실증분석을 하였다. 외국인 직접투자가 지역경제성장에 미치는 영향을 시기별로 나누어 접근을 하고 있다. 이를 위하여 1987년부터 2014년의 기간에 대해 중국을 동부,중부, 서부, 동북부 4대 지역으로 나누어 실증분석을 하였다. 분석 결과 전체적으로 볼 때, 외국인직접투자가 중국 동부지역 경제성장에 미치는 영향이 가장 큰 것으로 나타나는 반면에, 동북부지역은 가장 작은 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 외국인직접투자 유입초기에만 크고, 긍정적인 영향을 주었지만 시간이 흐를수록 외국인직접투자가 지역경제성장에 미치는 영향이 점점 미미한 것으로 나타났다.

This paper investigates the roles played by foreign direct investment in determining China’s fast growth and regional inequality during the period 1987-2014. In this paper, we used the panel data and divided China into four major regions(Eastern, Central, West, Northeast) considered with some structural change. The results show that, foreign direct investment in the eastern region appeared the greatest impact on the economic growth among the regions. On the other hand, the northeastern region showed the smallest. However, the significant and positive impact only showed in the early inflows of foreign direct investment, as the time goes on the impact get smaller and invalid. The effects of employment could be different even within the same size of foreign direct investment. The different of production scale can even lead the difference of the contribution to the regional GDP. Further, the efficiency of foreign direct investment would be a significance issues of China’s foreign direct investment policy. Selective attract on the effective investment relative to the unconditionally inflow is more necessary to the regional development in China.
