韓國의 對 中國 製造 業 直接投資 決定要因에 관한 硏究

A Study on the Determinant Factors of FDI to China in Korea’s Manufacturing Industry

본 연구는 1995년부터 2012년 기간 동안 한국의 대 중국 주요 성시(省市) 제조업에 투자한 외국인 직접투자의 결정요인에 대해서 패널자료를 이용하여 실증적인 회귀분석을 시도하였다. 그 분석결과를 종합해서 보면, 먼저 환율변수는 유의한 가장 높은 긍정적 요인으로 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 중국대 미국 달러의 가치가 상승하면 위안화 가치 하락으로 중국제품이 상대적으로 하락하여 순수출이 증가하게 되며 이는 생산증대를 촉진하여 대 중국 FDI 유입을 증가시키는 것으로 해석할 수 있다. 다음 무역 개방도는 한국의 대 중국 제조업 직접투자에 결정요인으로 유의하게 작용하고 있는 것으로 나타내고 있다. 이는 개방도의 증가가 직접투자 유인 여건을 조성하기 때문으로 생각된다. 중국의 지역별 GRDP는 한국의 대 중국 제조업 직접투자에 (+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 제조업 고용 인구는 한국의 대 중국 제조업 직접투자의 결정에 유의한 부정적인 요인으로 나타났다. 이와 같이 고용인구 변수가 부(-)의 관계를 나타난 것은 최근 외국인 직접투자 경향이 첨단기술 산업 전이로 변화함에 따라 단순한 노동력의 필요성은 줄어들고 대부분은 기술적 집약산업에 대해 집중하고 있는 실정이어서 기술 집약산업에서는 외국기업들이 저임금 노동력보다는 고임금 양질의 노동력을 더 중요하게 된 때문인 것으로 보인다.

This study aims to investigate what factors are important in that Korean companies directly invest in China’s manufacturing sector. Through empirical analysis, it shows what factors affect Korean manufacturing companies’ investments in China and offers more accurate recommendations on the investment direction to be taken. Also from the events such as global financial crisis, Korean currency crisis, China’s entry to WTO, I tries to find what changes might have occurred with regard to Korean companies’ foreign direct investment(FDI) decisions in China. In this paper I have selected GRDP as the market size, average real wage, the number of workers in the manufacturing sector, nominal exchange rate and the degree of market openness as the determinant factors, which would explain Korea’s direct investment in China’s manufacturing sector. To achieve this goal I used the relevant annual data from twelve main provinces in China from 1995 to 2012. The empirical results by panel regressions showed that the factors such as nominal exchange rate, GRDP, openness appeared as significant positive but population, negative. And the global financial crisis dummy was affected as significantly negative.
