Exploring the Mechanisms of Creative Thinking Abilities, Creative Self-Concept, and Creative Behavior: The Roles of Personality Characteristics, Crystallized Intelligence and Creative Self-Efficacy

본 연구에서는 창의적 사고능력, 창의적 자기개념 및 창의적 행동 간의 관계성을 살펴보고, 이 세 형태의 창의성 기저에서 이들을 설명하는 다측면적(성격적, 인지적, 신념적) 발현기제의 영향력을 비교해보고자 하였다. 이는 창의성의 개념을 인간의 본질적인 기능인 사고, 인식, 행동으로 구체화하여 각 기능이 서로 다른 작동기제에 의해 발현될 수 있음을 검증하는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 연구목적을 위해 대학생 179명을 대상으로 성격특성(외향성, 신경증, 개방성), 결정지능, 창의적 효능감과 세 형태의 창의성(창의적 사고능력, 창의적 자기개념, 창의적 행동)을 측정하였다. 연구결과, 창의적 사고능력의 유창성에는 신경증과 개방성이 정적으로 유의미한 영향을 미쳤고 외향성은 부적으로 유의미한 영향을 주었다. 창의적 사고능력의 독창성에는 신경증이 유의미한 영향을 주었다. 창의적 자기개념의 경우, 개방성은 정적으로 유의미한 영향을 주었지만 신경증은 부적으로 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 창의적 행동에는 외향성과 개방성이 정적으로 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 창의적 효능감은 창의적 사고능력의 유창성, 창의적 자기개념 및 창의적 행동에 정적으로 유의미한 영향을 주었다. 본 연구의 학술적, 실제적 함의와 향후 연구에 대한 방향성을 논의하였다.

This study examined the influences of the multidimensional (personality, cognitive, and belief) mechanisms that underlie creative thinking abilities, creative self-concept, and creative behavior. We specified the concept of creativity with thinking, perception, and behavior as fundamental function of human being and examined the fact that each function can be realized by the different mechanisms. A total of 179 college students completed measures of personality characteristics, crystallized intelligence, creative self-efficacy and three forms of creativity (creative thinking abilities, creative self-concept, and creative behavior). Results showed that the impacts of openness and neuroticism were significant on fluency of the creative thinking abilities while extroversion had a significantly negative influence on it. The impact of neuroticism was significant on originality of the creative thinking abilities. Regarding creative self-concept, openness had a significantly positive impact, but neuroticism had a significantly negative impact on it. For creative behavior, the impacts of openness and extroversion were significantly positive. Creative self-efficacy had a significantly positive influence on fluency of the creative thinking abilities, creative self-concept, and creative behavior. Theoretical and practical implications and future directions were discussed.
