The Ways of Economic Cooperation Between Korea and Russian Far East

The Russia’s foreign trade has grown after their openness. Her government has recognized that the Russian Far East is very important area for her economic Development. But the Russian Far East till now have been falling in the economic development. The foreign economic ties often prove to be more effective than domestic ones in the Russian Far East. In recent years, amount of trade with Northeast Asia including Korea, China, Japan etc. have grown through the reciprocal cooperation. For getting natural resources, China, Japan and Korea have competed in the Russian Far East. Specially the amount of foreign trade with Korea have increased very rapidly. Korea is an importing country in the sector of natural resources like oil, gas and timber, metals but Russian Far East import machine, transportation tools, communication facility and consumer goods etc. from Korea. Korea’s strategy for entering the Russian Far East by the structure change of foreign trade. first, is to trade by comparative advantage, import natural resource and export machine, consumer goods for mutual interests. Second, Korea have to participate the economic development of the Far East like construction of SOC sector. Third is to invest in the development of oil, gas fields.
