The Korean Chinese, most of whom are living in the three Northeastern provinces of China, has reached the population of two million. They have posessed relatively high level of education, and have engaged in agriculture traditionally. However, after the deepening of Sino-Korea economic cooperation since the early 1990s, their role and function in this bilateral economic relation has been changing. In particular, they have played a vital role in the initial stage of Korean firms investment into China. Later on, they have moved to places where Korean firms investment were concentrated, leaving their rural hometown behind. Also, approximately 150,000 of the Korean Chinese are residing in Korea, legally and illegally, making labor income. This paper has estimated the number of the jobs created among the Korean Chinese due to Korean firms investment into China, using the input-output table and survey data collected from Korean firms in China. As a result, it is estimated that approximately 48,000 Korean Chinese have found jobs as of 2004, and their total income could be as much as 1.3 billion Yuan (or $160 million). When the remittance by the Korean Chinese working in Korea is added to this labor income, approximately $200 million income has been generated among the Korean Chinese due to the Sino-Korean economic exchange in 2004.
